An introduction to computer technology and computer science with an emphasis on the Internet as a communication medium. Lectures will survey topics such as history of computer development from number-crunchers to information-management systems, how computers work, and how the Internet and World Wide Web work. Additionally, the course will explore data representation and programming and demonstrate what computers can or can not do. Students will learn the composition of web pages, set up and managing web sites, and develop computer programs. A laboratory component will give students hands-on experience with software applications, which demonstrate the possibilities enabled by current computer technology. This course fulfills the Formal Analysis requirement.
