Go here
to download the Java 1.3 development envrionment for Microsoft Windows PCs.

Look for the section that says Download Java 2 SDK, v 1.3.1 Software for
Windows 95 / 98 / 2000 / NT 4.0 / ME (Intel Platform) and click on the
continue button

Scroll to the bottom of the License Agreement (after you've read it,
of course) and click on Accept.

Click on one of the FTP buttons in a location close by (US East),
or use the HTTP download if you're behind a firewall & don't have
FTP access.

Choose a temporary location on your local machine to store the
download file - you can delete it after you run the installation,
but you need to know where to find it after it's downloaded, so
make a note of the download directory.

Click save, and go have a snack while the file downloads.

It is recommended that you also download and install the
documentation, even though it is available on-line. (See link on
course web page, under Java Resources.) It may be more convenient
for you to have the documentation local on your own machine so you
don't have to be connected to the internet to use it. Here are
instructions for downloading and installing the Java 1.3 documentation.
