1884 Wyoming Township, Kent County, Michigan State Census shows Garret is 47, Joaninites is 48, Shia is seven and Antonn is four. The parents were born in the Netherlands and the children in Michigan. Garrett works in the plaster mills. The family has been in Michigan 11 years.

On 6 May 1871 Gerrett Willems first married Annigje Dolfing, daughter of Jan Dolfing & Jantje Alberts, at Emmen, Drenthe.4 Born on 5 Feb 1843 at Westerbork, Drenthe.4

On 1 Feb 1871 Anna married Jan ten Cate, son of Arend ten Cate (2 Nov 1794-8 Feb 1853) & Henriette Margaretha Gross (16 Dec 1795-21 Jul 1864), at Emmen, Drenthe.4 Born on 29 Oct 1828 at Hoogeveen, Drenthe.4 Jan died at Vastenow (Emmen), Drenthe, on 26 May 1887.4

744. Lammechje Steen. Born on 18 Dec 1845 at Smilde, Drenthe.4 Lammechje died at Grand Rapids, Kent County, MI, on 10 Mar 1926. Buried in Washington Park Memorial Gardens.

Lammechje, later known as Laura.

Record number 360 book 12 page 218 Kent County Death Records states that Laantje Tweist died in Grand Rapids of chronic myocarditis on 10 March 1926. She was 80 y 2m 20 d old, a widow, who was born in the Netherlands. Her parents were F. William Steen and Dena Heersma, who were both born in the Netherlands.

On 21 Jun 1866 Lammechje married Jan Twiest (1107) , son of Harmannus Twiest (917) (2 Aug 1795-28 Jan 1847) & Geertruda Wijnholds (834) (8 Oct 1812-9 Jun 1878), at Emmen, Drenthe.4 Born on 5 Apr 1842 at Roswinkel (Emmen), Drenthe.4 Jan died at Grand Rapids, Kent Co., MI, on 15 Nov 1920. Buried in Washington Park Memorial Gardens.

1884 Wyoming Township, Kent County, Michigan State Census shows John Twist as 38 years old, Lamencha is 38, Hermanus is 17, Dena is 15, William is 12, Gertrude is nine, Frederick is six and Garrett is three. All were born in the Netherlands. John and William work in the plaster mill. The family has only been in Michigan one month (no date is given at the top of the page for when this census was actually taken). All but Fred and Garett can read and write.

John's obituary appeard in the Grand Rapids Press, Tue 16 Nov 1920.
