shows William R. as being a farmer, 47, and was born in Ohio. Both of his parents were born in New York. Martha is 33, a homemaker and was born in Michigan. Both of her parents were born in New York. Everetta is 14, John R. is 11, Lacall is nine, and Bertha is two. All of the children were born in Michigan. Sylrienus Moore is 29, a laborer, and was born in Michigan.

Real estate is worth $1400 and personal estate is $450. Samuel is a farmer who was born in New York. Juliet was born in Ohio, and the children in Michigan. They live next door to her brother William Monroe.

1860 Scotia Township, Shiawassee County, Michigan Census - Nataniel is 23 and living with his sister Juliet Hubord, 24. She is a domestic and he is a farm laborer. Real estate is worth $1,000 and personal estate is $280. Emma E. is nine and Charles is seven. The children were born in Michigan and the adults in Ohio.

Monroe, Nathan, Shiawassee County. Enlisted in Company E, Fourteenth Infantry, December 30, 1861 at Owasso, for three years, aged 23. Mustered January 7, 1862. On duty with the Sixteenth Illinois Infantry, March 19, 1864. Discharged at expiration term of service at Fayettevill, N. C., March 14, 1865.

found at the Michigan Archives, Lansing, Michigan provides additional informtion regarding Nathan's service in the Civil War; "5/64 temporarily assigned to Sixteenth Illlinois Infantry 3/19/64. 3/65 Mustered out 3/14/65 at Fayetteville, N. C. at expiration of term of service."

Civil War Pension -
Nathan's minor children Carole and Addie applied for pension benefits on 12 April 1890. Application number 236563.

1870 Scotia Township, Shiawassee County, Michigan census shows Nathan as a 33 year old farmer with real estate worth $1200 and a personal estate of $150. Adeline is 24, and Estella is 2. Nathan was born in Ohio, Adeline in New York and Estella in Michigan. Sarah Aber, 10, born in New York is a domestic servant.
