John Barnard, aged 30, and wife Phebe, aged 27, son John, aged 2 yrs, and son Samuel, aged 1 year, embarked at Ipswich, England, 10 Apr 1734 for New England in the Elizabeth, William Andres, master. John was admitted freeman 4 Mar 1634/5, was propertor of Watertown, 1636-7, and a selectman 1644.11

John was granted 60 acres at Watertown 25 Jul 1636, 10 acres in the Beaverbrook Plowlands 28 Feb 1636/7, 10 acres in the Remote Meadows 26 Jun 1637, and a farm of 287 acres 10 May 1642.5

ca 1632 John married Phebe Whiting (18705) , daughter of Anthony Whiting (ca 1575-1629) & Anne Sherman (7390) (ca 1575-1638).12 Born ca 1606 in Dedham, Essex. Phebe was baptized in Dedham, Essex, on 3 Sep 1606. Phebe died on 1 Aug 1685 in Watertown, MA.11
