Major William Bradford “removed to Kingston, Massachusetts, was assistant deputy governor, was one of Governor Andro’s council in 1687, and was the chief military officer of Plymouth colony.”25

William “res Northside of Jones River in section known as Stony Brook, Kingston. Inherited large estate from father. Maj Comm-in-chief of Plymouth Forces at Great Swamp Fight 1675 amd severely wounded. Dep 1657, assistant 1658-81. Dep Gov of Plymouth 1682-6, 1689-91. Mem of Council of Mass 1691. Treas 1679-85, 1689-91. Mem of Council of War 1657-8. Councillor of Provinse of Mass Bay in Charter of 1692. Councillor 1692-8. One of Gov Andros Council in 1687.”131

ca 1650 William first married Alice Richards (1988) , daughter of Thomas Richards (566) (ca 1596-ca Dec 1650) & Welthean [Richards] (-1679), in Plymouth, MA.24 Born ca 1629 in Pitminster, Somerset.5 Alice was baptized in Pitminster, Somerset, on 7 Apr 1629.5 Alice died on 12 Dec 1671 in Plymouth, MA.3 “on the 12^th Day of December 1671 Mistris Allice Bradford Junir: Changed this life for a better, about the age of 44 yeeres Shee was a gracious Woman liveed much Desired Died much lamented and was buried on the 14 Day of the month aforesaid att Plymouth abovesaid”. Buried on 14 Dec 1671 in Plymouth, MA.3

1676 or 1677 William third married Mary Wood, daughter of John Wood (-1675/6) & Sarah Masterson (early 1620’s-early 1701).133 Born ca 1643 in Plymouth, MA.5 Mary died on 6 Jan 1714/5 in Plymouth, MA.5

804. Mercy Bradford. Born bef May 1627 in Plymouth, MA.24

On 21 Dec 1648 Mercy married Benjamin Vermayes in Plymouth, MA.3 “Mr Beniamin Vermayes maried unto MiS Mercy Bradford teh one and twentyeth of December”. Born ca 1624.24 Benjamin died bef 1666.

Benjamin removed to Boston. He took the freeman’s oath at Boston 18 May 1642. Later in Plymouth; resided on North Street. Not mentioned in either partnt’s will. No known issue.131

805. Joseph Bradford. Born ca 1630 in Plymouth, MA.24 Joseph died on 10 Jul 1715 in Plymouth, MA.26 Buried in Burial HIll.

Joseph and Jael resided at Flat House Dock on Jones River, Kingston.131

On 25 May 1664 Joseph married Jael Hobart (5631) , daughter of Rev. Peter Hobart (14963) (ca 1604-20 Jan 1679) & Rebecca Ibrook (1543) (ca 1612-Dec 1645), in Hingham, MA.33 Born ca 1643 in Hingham, MA. Jael was baptized in Hingham, MA, on 30 Dec 1643.33 Jael died on 14 Apr 1730 in Kingston, MA.134 Buried in Old Burying Bround, First Church, Kingston.
