John was mentioned in his father’s will of 1612, then unmarried.1

On 26 Jun 1615 John first married Margaret Gaspye in St Mary Magdalen, Taunton.1 Margaret died bef 17 Dec 1643.

988. Judith Coggan. Born in 1594 in Taunton, Somerset. Judith was baptized in St Mary Magdalen, Taunton, on 13 Jun 1594. Judith died on 6 Feb 1661/2 in Plymouth, MA.3

On 13 Apr 1618 Judith first married William Kinge in St Mary Magdalen, Taunton.1 William died in May 1619 in Taunton, Somerset, Eng. Buried on 15 May 1619 in St Mary Magdalen, Taunton.1

James may have been the son of John Glasse and Johane Dixson who were married at St Mary Magdalen 6 Jul 1579.1

995. Frances Coggan. Born ca 1605/6 in Taunton, Somerset, Eng. Frances was baptized in St Mary Magdalen, Taunton, on 24 Feb 1605/6. Frances died on 17 May 1671 in Lancaster, MA.1

On 26 Nov 1623 Frances married John Whitcomb, son of John Whitcomb (-1648) & Ann Harper, in St Mary Magdalen, Taunton.1 Born ca 1600 in Taunton, Somerset, Eng. John died on 24 Sep 1662 in Lancaster, MA.33

“John^1, from Dorchester, in Dorset, Eng., was a resident of Dor., Mass., as early as 1633; but ab. 1640 removed to Scit., and thence, in 1652, to Lancaster, Mass., where he d. 24 Sept. 1662, and his wid. d. 17 May, 1671. Freeman 1643. His sons, who prob. came from Eng. with him, were: I. John, who settled at Lancaster; II. Robert (2) of Scit.; III. Jonathan; IV. Job, was of Lancaster; V. James. There also were dau's Catherine, Abigail, and Mary. Catherine, says Deane's History, m. at 1644, Rhodolphus Ellmes of Scit., and left a numerous posterity.33

    “John Whitcomb we suppose to have come from Dorchester, in Dorset, England, from the circumstance that it was a common name in that vicinity, and that he came with the early settlers of Dorcheseter, N. England, who were most of them, form Dorsetshire. He was in Dorchester as early as 1633, was a member of the Church 1638. In 1640 he appears in Scituate, when he possessed a farm of 108 acres, near the mouth of the North river, on the Marshfield side. This he sold to Thomas Hickes 1649. In 1646, he removed to Lancaster, and he may have purchased lands there a year or two earlier.”6

On 14 Mar 1636/7 Henry married Abigail Bishop (747) , daughter of Thomas Bishop (344) & Avis Abbott (-4 Aug 1673), in Bridport, Dorset.1 Born ca 1612/3 in Bridport, Dorset. Abigail was baptized in Bridport, Dorset, on 24 Jan 1612/3. Abigail died in May 1653 in Barnstable, MA. Buried on 6 May 1653 in Barnstable, MA.3
