1018. John Comstock. Born ca 1624 in Culmstock, Devenshire. John died on 3 Dec 1689 in Lyme, CT.

John was in Weymouth in 1639, and indentured servant of Henry Russel. He settled at Saybrook, the east part which became Lyme.2

In 1661 John married Abigail Chappell, daughter of George Chappell (ca 1615-bef 8 Jun 1682) & Margaret [Chappell] (ca 1630-aft Oct 1714), in Lyme, CT. Born on 1 Sep 1644 in Wethersfield, CT. Abigail died in 1709 in New London, CT.

ca 1652 Samuel married Anne Tucker in Providence, RI. Born ca 1630 in Providence, RI. Anne died aft 10 Feb 1666/7 in Providence, RI.

Anne first married Samuel Comstock, second John Smith.

1020. Daniel Comstock. Born on 21 Jul 1630. Daniel died in 1683 in New London, CT.

Daniel was of New London by 1652.2

ca 1653 Daniel married Palthiah Elderkin, daughter of John Elderkin (-22 Jun 1687) & Abigail Kingsland, in Lynn, MA. Born ca 1636. Palthiah died on 21 Feb 1713.

1021. Elizabeth Comstock. Born ca 1633 in Hull, Devonshire. Elizabeth died in middle of Jul 1659 in Saybrook, CT.146

In beginning of Jan 1651 Elizabeth married Edward Shipman in Saybrook, CT.146 Born ca 1625 in Nottinghamshire, England. Edward died on 15 Sep 1697 in Saybrook, CT.146

Edward, of Saybrook, was propounded for freeman Oct 1667, as Shipton, according to the town records and though all the children stand with the old name, his name at death as recorded 15 Sep 1697, is in the new form. In the will of the Indian sachem Uncas, 29 Feb 1676, he is one of three devisees to each of whom the testator gave 3000 acres, and this “within sight of Hartford,” when in that clause of the instrument the aggregated grant reached to 83,000 acres to only 28 persons.2

1022. Christopher Comstock. Born on 7 Oct 1635. Christopher died in Norwalk, CT, on 28 Dec 1702; he was 67.16 Occupation: tavernkeeper.

From Jacobus’s History and Genealogy of the Families of Old Fairfield:16
    “Comstock, Christopher. Deputy (Norwalk) to Conn. Leg., Oct. 1686, May and June 1689, May 1690.
    “Prob. son of Witliam of New London. He settled in Fairfield; rem. to Norwalk, and was nominated for a freeman oi Conn. Colony, Oct. 1667.
    “He m. (rec. Norwalk) 6 Oct. 1663, Hannah Platt, dau. of Richard oi Mil£ord; and d. 28 Dec. 1702.
    “In 1654 he testified to visiting the convicted witch, Goodwiie Knapp, in company with Thomas Shervington and Goodwife Baldwin. In 1692 he served on the Grand Jury which indicted Merey Disbrow and others for witchcraft.
    “Will 22 Dec. 1701, proved 4 Jan. 1702/3; wife Hannah; sons Moses, Samuel; daus. Hannah Comstock and Merey Comstock; every grandchild to have a Bible; wife, Exec’x, and friends Rev. Stephen Buckingham and James Olmstead, overseers.”

On 6 Oct 1663 when Christopher was 27, he married Hannah Platt (8646) , daughter of Dea. Richard Platt (28 Sep 1603-bef 13 Feb 1684/5) & Mary Wood (2406) (ca 1605-Mar 1675/6), in Norwalk, CT.2 Born ca 1643 in Milford, CT. Hannah died aft 22 Dec 1701. Hannah was baptized in Milford, CT, on 1 Oct 1643.
