1374. John Havens. Born say 1640 in Portsmouth, RI. John died on 22 Sep 1687 in Monmouth, NJ.

From the Havens Family in Suffolk County:192
    “John came, it would seem, from Portsmouth, RI. into what is now Monmouth County, N.J. at some time between Dec 2, 1662, the date of the leasing of his father's home, and Jan 1, 1665. ‘Beginning on Feb 27, 1667-8 an oath of allegiance was administered to all the inhabitants of Navesink in New Jersey. This list included 24men, of whom one was John Havens, son of William of Portsmouth, whose grant of land is set down as 120 acres.’”

ca 1662 John first married Anna Stannard.

1375. Thomas Havens. Born say 1642 in Portsmouth, RI. Thomas died by 1704 in North Kingstown, RI.192

Thomas removed from Portsmouth to Kingstown, RI. He was a freeman in 1671 and a juryman in 1677. He was taxed in 1687 at Kingstown, R.I. His estate was probated in 1704, and his son William was administrator.192

Thomas married Mary Pierce, daughter of Robert Pierce (-11 Jan 1664) & Anne Greenway. Born ca 1628 in Shalbourne, Wiltshire. Mary was baptized in Shalbourne, Wiltshire, on 8 Nov 1628. Mary died on 16 Oct 1708 in Dedham, MA.

1377. Robert Havens. Born say 1651 in Portsmouth, RI. Robert died betweeen 30 Mar 1708 and 7 Apr 1712 in Dartmouth, MA.

Robert removed from Portsmouth, RI, to Dartmouth, MA.66

On Oct 31 1677 he and 47 others were granted 5000 acres on Cowesott Bay, RI. He was made freeman in 1678. His will, Mar 30 1708 proved Apr 7 1712, named wife Elizabeth administratrix, names children Robert, William, George, Joseph, Ruth, Elizabeth. He was first at Portsmouth, R.l. and later at Dartmouth, Mass.192

Robert married Elizabeth [Havens].

1378. George Havens. Born ca 1653 in Portsmouth, RI. George died in Feb 1706 in Shelter Island.192 Buried in Old Cemetery, New London, CT.

George was in Canonicut, now Jamestown, in 1680 when he was admitted freeman, but early removed to Shelter Island.2

In 1674 George married Elinor Thurston, daughter of Edward Thurston (ca 1617-1 Mar 1707) & Elizabeth Mott (ca 1629-2 Sep 1694).66 Born in Mar 1654/5 in Newport, RI. Elinor died on 7 Nov 1747 in Southold, LI. Buried in South Churchyard, Shelter Island.

Mary married Capt. John Cook (3660) , son of Capt. Thomas Cook (1027) (ca 1626-ca 1699) & Thomasin [Cook] (-Oct 1670). Born ca 1652 in Portsmouth, RI.157 John died in Oct 1727 in Tiverton, MA (now RI).157

On 30 Mar 1694 Elizabeth married Jeremiah Fones, son of John Fones (-20 Dec 1703) & Margaret [Fones] (-aft 1709), in Jamestown, RI. Born ca 1665 in Jamestown, RI. Jeremiah died on 29 Apr 1747 in North Kingstown, RI.

1385. Rebecca Havens. Born say 1667 in Portsmouth, RI.

Rebecca was unmarried 13 Mar 1680 when her father’s will was written. Sometimes it is said that Rebecca married William Hopkinks, son of Giles and Catherine (Whelden) Hopkins, but that is unlikely as he was incapable of looking out for himself and almost certainly never married.

1386. Margaret Havens. Born say 1669 in Portsmouth, RI. Margaret died in Philadelphia, PA.

Margaret was unmarried 13 Mar 1680 when her father’s will was written. Sometimes Margaret is said to have married an Arthur Cook and died at Philadelphia.
