1893. William Phelps. Born ca 1618 in Crewkerne, Somersetshire. William was baptized in Crewkerne, Somersetshire, on 9 Sep 1618.92 William died on 17 Feb 1681/2 in Windsor, CT.92

William was a freeman at Hartford 1669.93

On 4 Jun 1645 William first married Isabel [Wilson] in Windsor, CT.92 Isabel died on 27 Nov 1675 in Windsor, CT.

They had no children.

On 20 Dec 1676 William second married Sarah Pinney, daughter of Humphrey Pinney (ca 1605-20 Aug 1683) & Mary Hull (ca 1618-18 Aug 1684), in Windsor, CT.93 Born on 19 Nov 1648 in Windsor, CT.144 At the age of <1, Sarah was baptized on 3 Dec 1648.93

1894. Samuel Phelps. Born ca 1621 in Crewkerne, Somersetshire. Samuel was baptized in Crewkerne, Somersetshire, on 5 Aug 1621.92 Samuel died on 15 May 1699 in Poquonock, Windsor, CT.92

Samuel and Sarah settled at Poquonock, Windsor.93

On 10 Jan 1650 Samuel married Sarah Griswold (4847) , daughter of Edward Griswold (1323) (ca Jul 1607-30 Aug 1691) & Margaret [Griswold] (-23 Aug 1670), in Windsor, CT.93 Born on 10 Jan 1635 in Kenilworth, Warwickshire. Sarah died in Windsor, CT, on 6 Nov 1715; she was 80.

Sarah came to New England with her father.

(Some of the dates are fishy. It’s frequently mentioned that Sarah was born 10 Jan 1635, only 12 years before she was married. And it’s also said her first husband Samuel died 15 May 1699 which is 29 years after she married her second husband. Either the dates are wrong or there were two Sarahs.)

1896. Dea. Nathaniel Phelps. Born ca 1624/5 in Crewkerne, Somersetshire. Nathaniel was baptized in Crewkerne, Somersetshire, on 6 Mar 1624[/5].5 Nathaniel died on 27 May 1702 in Northampton, MA.93

Nathaniel and Elizabeth resided in Windsor on the Orton place, near his father, but removed about 1656 to Northampton, MA, and were founders of the town. Nathaniel was one of the first deacons of the Northampton church, freeman 11 May 1681.93

On 17 Sep 1650 Nathaniel married Elizabeth [Copley] in Windsor, CT.93 Born in 1630. Elizabeth died on 6 Dec 1712 in Northampton, MA.

Elizabeth, ‘an Englishwoman.’
