On 26 Mar 1657 Hannah married Abraham Howe in Watertown, MA.185 Abraham died on 30 Jan 1695 in Marlboro, MA.185

2282. Capt. Samuel Ward. Born on 24 Sep 1641 in Sudbury, MA.80 Samuel died in Marlboro, MA, on 15 Nov 1729; he was 88.185

Samuel was representative 1679 and 1680. His will of 22 May 1727, nearly 2 years before his death was dispututed by the heirs on account of most of the estate being give to his son Samuel.2

From the Ward Genealogy:
    “Samuel’s house-lot (by reversion from his brother Richard) was west of the Indian line, and probably near the old John Gleason place. ...
    “Under him, succeeding his father, the original ‘William Ward’ house (i.e., the remaining structure on the original site) was frequently the place of the midweek church meetings and also the recognized abode of visiting and temporary ministers. During the intermittent French and Indian wars from 1689 to 1713, it was a garrison-house as during King Philip's War.
    “In his will dated May 22, 1727, Samuel Ward says he is ‘well stricken in years and crazy in body, but of perfect mind, and memory.’ His will was contested in Probate Court, December 19, 1729, by all his children and heirs texcept his son Samuel, the chief beneficiary in virtue of a concurrent agreement to care for him and his wife durirlg their lives) on the ground that he was crazy in milld as well as in body. At length the heirs agreed among themselves touching his will, and desired the judge to approve it.”

On 6 Jun 1667 when Samuel was 25, he first married Sarah Howe, daughter of John Howe (ca 1612-28 May 1680) & Mary [Howe] (-bef 9 Sep 1698).2 Born on 25 Sep 1644 in Sudbury, MA.80 Sarah died in Marlboro, MA, on 11 Aug 1707; she was 62.2

On 25 May 1710 when Samuel was 68, he second married Elizabeth Beers, daughter of Capt. Richard Beers (ca 1616-4 Sep 1675) & Elizabeth Firman.185 Born ca 1655. Elizabeth died aft 1729.

2283. Elizabeth Ward. Born on 14 Apr 1643 in Sudbury, MA.80 Elizabeth died in Marlboro, MA, on 26 Apr 1710; she was 67.185

On 22 Jan 1662 when Elizabeth was 18, she first married John Howe, son of John Howe (ca 1612-28 May 1680) & Mary [Howe] (-bef 9 Sep 1698), in Sudbury, MA.185 Born on 24 Aug 1640 in Sudbury, MA.80 John died in Sudbury, MA, on 21 Apr 1676; he was 35.185

John was killed in the Sudbury fighting, and his ‘housings destroyed by the Indians.’185

On 18 Feb 1677 when Elizabeth was 33, she second married Capt. Henry Kerley, son of William Kerley & Ann King, in Charlestown, MA.185 Henry died on 18 Dec 1713.185

Elizabeth was Henry’s second wife.185

Captain Kerley has lost his wife and two or three of his children at the hands of the Indians about 14 months prior to the killing of Elizabeth’s first husband.185

2284. Increase Ward. Born on 22 Feb 1644[/5] in Sudbury, MA.80 Increase died in Aug 1690 in Marlboro, MA.2

Increase was freeman 18 Apr 1690.2

Increase and Record resided in that section of Marlboro which becarne Westboro in 1717, and in that part of it which was later set off as Northboro. His farm was by the river. It included the 24 acres of Abrallam Williams’s house-lot, purchased from Williams by William Ward. He operated a sawmill near the spot where later there were cotton factories. He was town clerk in 1689, and probably earlier. His tombstone is the oldest of the Ward stones preserved in Spring Hill Cemetery.185

On 3 Oct 1672 when Increase was 27, he married Record Wheelock, daughter of Ralph Wheelock (4 May 1600-11 Jan 1684) & Rebecca Wilkinson (-ca 1650), in Medfield, MA.185 Born on 15 Dec 1644 in Dedham, MA. At the age of <1, Record was baptized on 22 Dec 1644. Record died in Marlboro, MA, on 16 Jul 1726; she was 81.2

2285. Hopestill Ward. Born on 24 Feb 1646 in Sudbury, MA.80 Hopestill died in Marlboro, MA, on 23 Dec 1718; she was 72.185

According to the Ward Genealogy:185 In the Middlesex County records af the births of their children Hopestill is erroneously called ‘Bethiah’; also in Marlboro records of their firstborn. Her will gave £5 for the relief of poor members of the church.

On 22 Apr 1678 when Hopestill was 32, she married Dea. James Woods, son of John Woods (6 Feb 1609-10 Jul 1678) & Mary Parmenter (17 Aug 1610-17 Aug 1690), in Marlboro, MA.185 Born on 18 Jul 1647 in Sudbury, MA.185 James died in Marlboro, MA, on 7 Aug 1718; he was 71.185

On 4 Aug 1679 when William was 31, he married Hannah Brigham, daughter of Thomas Brigham (ca 1603-9 Dec 1653) & Mercy Hurd (-23 Dec 1693), in Marlboro, MA.185 Born on 9 Mar 1650 in Cambridge, MA.185 Hannah died in Marlboro, MA, on 8 Dec 1719; she was 69.185

Hannah, widow of Gershom Eames. She had two children by her first husband.185

2287. Eleazer Ward. Born ca 1649 in Sudbury, MA.2 Eleazer died on 20/21 Apr 1676.185

Eleazer was killed by Indians while riding from Marlborough to Sudbury on April 20 or 21, 1676, during King Philip’s War.185

On 10 Jul 1675 Eleazer married Hannah Rice, daughter of Henry Rice (ca 1620-10 Feb 1710/1) & Elizabeth Moore (-3 Aug 1705), in Marlboro, MA.185 Born ca 1651 in Sudbury, MA.

2288. Bethia Ward. Born ca 1658 in Sudbury, MA.2 Bethia died on 8 Dec 1721 in Marlboro, MA.185

On 10 Jan 1681 Bethia married Daniel Rice (9473) , son of Dea. Edward Rice (ca Oct 1622-15 Aug 1712) & Agnes Bent (2733) (ca 1631-4 Jun 1713), in Marlboro, MA.185 Born on 8 Nov 1655 in Sudbury, MA.80 Daniel died in Marlboro, MA, on 14 Jul 1737; he was 81.185

Daniel married second Elizabeth (Wells) Wheeler, widow of John Wheeler.185

Daniel and Bethiah’s house was one of those fortified 1711-1713 against Indian attacks.185
