2554. John Baldwin. Born in 1593 in Wendover, Buckinghamshire. John died in Jun 1681 in Milford, CT. Buried on 21 Jun 1681 in Milford, CT.⁷⁶

From Abbott’s Families of Early Milford:⁶⁸
“John Balwin will dated 24 May 1681. ... Admitted to the church 1652. ... He was not a freeplanter because he was not a member of the church but later joined on 19 March 1648. His home lot was #113 on the map of 1646, containing 2 acres 1 rod and 10 poles.”

Charles Candee Baldwin, author of The Baldwin Genealogy,10 was not convinced that John Baldwin of Wendover, son of John & Hannah Baldwin, was the John Baldwin who settled at Milford.

On 15 Aug 1640 John first married Mary [Baldwin] in Milford, CT. Mary died ca 1652 in Milford, CT.

On 13 Oct 1653 John second married Mary Bruen (10424) , daughter of Obadiah Bruen (3140) (ca Dec 1606-bef 1690) & Sarah [Bruen] (-25 Mar 1684), in Milford, CT.⁷⁶ Born ca Jun 1634 in Shrewsbury, Shropshire. Mary was baptized in St. Julians, Shrewsbury, on 12 Jun 1634. Mary died on 2 Sep 1670 in Milford, CT.⁶⁸

It is not certain that the Mary Bruen who married John Baldwin was the daughter of Obadiah Bruen; she may have been his half-sister.
