2938. Maj. John Bradford. Born on 20 Feb 1652/3 in Plymouth, MA.26,3 John died in Kingston, MA, on 8 Dec 1736; he was 84.134 Buried in Old Burying Bround, First Church, Kingston.

John was a Major of the Plymouth Forces. He was the first deputy from Plymouth to General Court, 1687; deputy to General Court 1689-91. Selectman Mar 1708/9. Representative to the General Assembly at Boston 1719. He built his home about 1674 a little northwest of Kingston landing—the “Bradford House” in Kingston. He inherited form his father his grandfather’s manuscript “Early HIstory of Plymouth” and large tracts of land upon which he dwelt. The manuscript was loaned to a friend, never returned and lost for years. Later it was found in England, and is now in the State Capitol, Boston. John gave land for the minister’s home, church, and school, and 11 acres of woodland for permanent use of the ministry.131

John and Mercy were admitted to the Plymouth church in 1690 [Plym. Ch. Rec., 1:268]. They were still members in 1703 (John is recorded as "dismist") [Plym. Ch. Rec., 1:191, 1:192].

On 6 Jan 1674/5 when John was 21, he married Mercy Warren (8370) , daughter of Joseph Warren (2295) (ca 1626/1627-4 May 1689) & Priscilla Faunce (10841) (ca 1633-15 May 1707), in Plymouth, MA.26 Born on 23 Sep 1653 in Plymouth, MA.3 Mercy died in Mar 1747 in Kingston, MA.134 Buried in Old Burying Bround, First Church, Kingston.

2939. Maj. William Bradford. Born on 11 Mar 1654/5 in Plymouth, MA.3 At the age of 11, William was baptized in Plymouth, MA, on 25 Mar 1665.3 William died in Plymouth, MA, on 5 Jul 1687; he was 33.26

William and Rebecca resided in Kingston. Rebecca inherited from her father land at North Hill.131

In 1679 William married Rebecca Bartlett (11264) , daughter of Benjamin Bartlett (8325) (ca 1629-Aug 1691) & Sarah Brewster (3531) (ca 1635-aft 1670).24 Born ca 1660. Rebecca died on 14 Dec 1741 in Duxbury, MA.24

2940. Lieut. Thomas Bradford. Born ca 1657/58 in Plymouth, MA.24 Thomas died on 1 Oct 1731 in Windham, CT.24

Thomas, of Norwich.58 Thomas received from his Uncle John his home lot and his father’s lands—both in Norwich. He resided in Norwich, Montville, and Salem. In 1691 he sold Simon Huntington his home lot with dewlling and patture of 8 1/2 acres. He moved to the west side of Mehantick Bay. His homw was near Salen, a section of New London.131

ca 1681 Thomas first married Anne Raymond (9778) , daughter of Joshua Raymond (ca 1638/9-24 Apr 1676) & Elizabeth Smith (2871) (ca 1645-1 May 1712).24 Born on 12 May 1664 in New London, CT.24 Anne died bef 8 May 1705 in Norwich, CT.24

On 29 Mar 1680 Alice first married Rev. William Adams, son of William Adams, in Dedham, MA.24 Born on 27 May 1650 in Ipswich, MA.24 William died in Dedham, MA, on 17 Aug 1685; he was 35.24 Education: Harvard 1671, “with reputation for behavior and scholarship”.131

William, 2nd Pastor Dedham, ordained 3 Dec 1673.131

On 8 May 1687 Alice second married Maj. James Fitch, son of Rev. James Fitch (ca 1622-18 Nov 1702) & Abigail Whitfield (1 Sep 1622-9 Sep 1659), in Norwich, CT.24 Born on 2 Aug 1649 in Saybrook, CT.146 James died in Canterbury, CT, on 10 Nov 1727; he was 78.24

James was a large land owner. He resided at Norwhich, Preston, Plainfield, and Canterbury erecting the first permanent habititaion there.131

John resided in Duxbury about 1/3 mile NE from the mouth of Island Creek. He was juryman 1700, Constable 1701, Selectman 1702. In 1710 he was one of three appointed to divided the common lands. John was Lieut. of the Colonial Forces 1688-1714.131

On 31 Jul 1689 Samuel married Hannah Rogers (17419) , daughter of John Rogers (1 Mar 1641-28 Jun 1732) & Elizabeth Pabodie (6738) (24 Apr 1647-bet 1677 and 1679), in Plymouth, MA.24 Born on 16 Nov 1668 in Duxbury, MA.225 Hannah died in Sep 1754 in Hingham, MA.33

William resided in Weymouth, then Chilmark. In 1697 he sold his property to his brother, Milton.131

On 23 Mar 1686/7 Sarah married Kenelm Baker (20620) , son of Samuel Baker (16 Jan 1638/9-1699) & Ellen Winslow (8600) (ca 1636-Aug 1676), in Marshfield, MA. Born on 23 Mar 1657/8 in Marshfield, MA.20 At the age of 3, Kenelm was baptized in the Second Church of Scituate, on 24 Mar 1660.116 Kenelm died in 1712/13 in Marshfield, MA.24
