On 28 Oct 1692 when Elizabeth was 24, she first married Moses Ayres, son of Moses Ayres & Bethiah Millett (Feb 1643-15 Feb 1669), in Dorchester, MA. Born on 10 Sep 1667 in Dorchester, MA.

On 8 Mar 1714/5 when Elizabeth was 47, she second married Capt. Thomas Paine (15143) , son of Thomas Paine (-16 Aug 1706) & Mary Snow (5467) (ca 1630-28 Apr 1704), in Truro, MA.284 Capt. Thomas Paine and Mrs. Elizabeth Eairs were married the eighth day of March in ye year 1714/15. Born ca 1656 in Eastham, MA. Thomas died on 23 Jun 1721 in Truro, MA.285 Capt. Thomas Paine, Esq. dyed the 23rd day of June in the year 1721. Buried in Old North Cemetery, Truro.285

“Thomas Paine, the second son [of Thomas Paine], born in 1657, was a man of prominence. He succeeded Mark Snow, as clerk of Eastham, in 1695, and was yearly elected until 1701, when he was succeeded by his younger brother, John. He was an excellent clerk. He was a selectman of Eastham seven yeras. Hebecame a landholder at Pamet, now Truro, adn removed there and settled on the north side of Little Pamet river, wehre the house spot is yet to be seen. He was clerk of the proprietors many years. He was selectman of Truro seven years, representative five years, and town clerk several years. He was justice of the peace, deacon of the church, captain of the military company, and a special justice of the court of common pleas, to which office he was appointed July 5, 1713. He died June 23, 1721, in the 65th year of his age. He was twice married, and father of fourteen children. His descendants are widely scattered, numerous and highly respected. From his daughter Hannah descended the late Hon. Horace Binney of Philadelphia.”55

On 1 Feb 1696/7 when John was 25, he first married Susanna Breck, daughter of Capt. John Breck (ca Oct 1650-17 Feb 1691/2) & Susanna [Breck] (-8 Feb 1710/1), in Dorchester, MA. Born on 9 Nov 1678 in Dorchester, MA. Susanna died in Dorchester, MA, on 20 Feb 1712/3; she was 34.

On 1 Apr 1714 when John was 42, he second married Elizabeth White in Dorchester, MA. Elizabeth died on 25 Jun 1768 in Dorchester, MA.

3603. Capt. Benjamin Tolman. Born on 28 Nov 1676 in Dorchester, MA. Benjamin died in 1766 in Scituate, MA.

“Capt. Benjamin Tolman came from Dorchester to Scituate in 1709. ... His residence was one-fourth mile south-east of the Church Hill. There he established a tannery.”6 Later the tannery, forty rods east of Chruch Hill, belonged to his son-in-law, Joseph Copland.7

On 28 Dec 1703 when Benjamin was 27, he first married Ruth Fletcher in Boston, MA. Born ca 1680 in Boston, MA. Ruth died on 16 Feb 1704/5 in Boston, MA.

On 4 Aug 1709 when Benjamin was 32, he second married Elizabeth Perry, daughter of William Perry (-ca 1715/6) & Elizabeth Lobdell (ca 1659-aft 13 May 1735), in Scituate, MA.85 “Benjamin Toolman & Elizabeth palmer widow * were married August the 4th 1709 [signed] Mr. Nathaniell Eells.” At * “of Bezaleel Palmer” was interlined, and a footnote reads, “She was Elizabeth Perry d. of wm Perry. S.D. (probably S. Deane). Born on 27 Jun 1682 in Scituate, MA.116

On 18 Jan 1711/2 when Ruth was 26, she first married Joseph Butt, son of Richard Butt (ca 1644-6 Feb 1697) & Deliverance Hoppin (ca 1648-22 Jul 1699), in Dorchester, MA. Born on 14 Mar 1683/4 in Dorchester, MA. Joseph died in Apr 1713 in Dorchester, MA.

On 20 Jan 1714/5 when Ruth was 29, she second married John Robinson, son of James Robinson (-18 Apr 1694) & Mary Alcock (4 Aug 1644-), in Dorchester, MA. Born on 17 Apr 1675 in Dorchester, MA. John died in Dorchester, MA, on 6 Feb 1742/3; he was 67.
