Will of Thomas Cooke, Jr, eldest son of Thomas Cooke of Portsmouth, dated 29 Jan 1670, mentions grandfather Thomas Cooke , father Thomas Cooke of Portsmouth, brothers John Cooke eldest, George Steven, and Ebenezer Cooke youngest, all under 21; sisters of whom only Sarah Parker wife of Peter Parker is mentioned; uncle John Cooke; and Joseph Torey no relationship.137

3659. Mary Cook. Born ca 1650 in Portsmouth, RI.157 Mary died on 11 Jan 1671.157

Mary Langord’s will, dated 7 Nov 1670/1 Portsmouth, no proved date, wife of Thomas Lanford, mentions husband’s unnamed child, sister Sarah Parker, brother Thomas, and uncle John Cooke; Obediah Holms whom I trust.137

Mary married Thomas Langford, son of John Langford. Born ca 1634. Thomas was baptized in Netherbury, Dorset, Eng., on 25 Dec 1634.157 Thomas died in Nov 1670 in Portsmouth, RI.157

Thomas arrived in New England 27 Feb 1657 from Bristol, England, listed as the servant of George Gallop. The name of Thomas’ first wife, mother of his son Thomas, has not been learned.157

Thomas Langord’s will, dated 30 Oct 1670 Portsmouth, mentions his wife Mary.137

3660. Capt. John Cook. Born ca 1652 in Portsmouth, RI.157 John died in Oct 1727 in Tiverton, MA (now RI).157

John married Mary Havens (1379) , daughter of William Havens (457) (ca 1618-between 13 Mar 1680 and 25 Sep 1683) & Dennis [Havens] (ca 1623-aft 1692). Born ca 1656 in Portsmouth, RI.157 Mary died in Jul 1754 in Tiverton, RI.157

Ebenezer first married Mary Patterson, daughter of Edward Patterson & Faith Chamberlin.

ca 1679 Phebe first married Oliver Arnold (9028) , son of Gov. Benedict Arnold (2518) (21 Dec 1615-19 Jun 1678) & Damaris Westcott (27 Jan 1621-aft 1678). Born on 25 Jul 1655 in Newport, RI.9 Oliver died in Jamestown, RI, on 6 Nov 1697; he was 42.

Oliver, of Jamestown, in his will probated 1697 names his wife Phebe and five children.2

On 7 Oct 1705 Phebe third married Lt. Robert Barker (2579) , son of Robert Barker (691) (ca 1616-bet 1689 and 1691) & Lucy [Barker] (-aft 1681), in Jamestown,RI.5 Born on 27 Feb 1651 in Duxbury, MA.7 Robert died in Duxbury, MA, on 25 Sep 1729; he was 78.120 Occupation: yeoman.

“Robert was a yeoman and was made Lieut. 10-4-1675, later owned in 1681 a saw mill run by the water power in the brook by the family home, in 1684 he owned a farm in Pudding Brook and built a dam there in 1693, was Constable in 1685 and surveyor in 1687, he also owned land in Rhode Island.”120

Robert was back in Duxbury again in 1701 when 16 acres adjoining his farm were given him.58

3666. Martha Cook. Martha died ca 1667.157
