    Isaac “was a fanner in Ipswich. His first wife, Alice, with her sister, Mary, wife of Thomas Hazen, received by will of their grandfather, Thomas Howlet, Sr., 1OO acres of land in Ipswich, in ‘the thick woods.’ That will was dated Nov. 1, 1677. The land was deeded to them by William Howlet, executor, Apr. 4, 1687. Hazen and wife sold their half to Isaac and Alice Cummings, Oct. 10, 1693, for £80. This estate was bounded by ‘Salstonstall’s’ and Samuel Howlet’s farms. In 1721 Isaac bought of John Goodhue, for £78, 13 1/2 acres ‘on the edge of the thick woods,’ on Ipswich river, bounded on Thomas Lamson’s meadow and on Mr. Hart’s. He and his wife were dismissed to Ipswich church, 172I1, from church in Topsfield. He sold his Rowley village land, 67 acres, to John Chadwick, Oct. 3, 1717, for £103. June 28, 1726, a division was made between Isaac and his son, Isaac, Jr., of the 138 acres they owned, ‘bounded on Salstonstalls, E. on Samuel Hart, partly on said Cummings, Sr., N. on Joseph Cummings and Dea. John Howlet, W. on Ipswich River and partly on Joseph Cummings’.’ He bequeathed to his son, Isaac, the John Goodhue land, above mentioned, and 2 1/2 acres of woodland, Iying by Smith's land, formerly Salstonstall’s; to his widow, as long as she remained such, the use and improvement of nis estate, she paying to Isaac the land just mentioned and £40 lent him years ago; to Lydia Smith, daughter, £100; to four grandchildren, children of daughter, Alice Bixby, deceased, £100, to be paid as they arrive at full age, the sons at 21, and the daughters at 18; to daughter, Jemima Foster, £150, also half of his household goods; to Jerusha, daughter, the same as to Jemima. The inventory of his estate was £602 2s. 4d.”

On 25 Dec 1688 when Isaac was 24, he first married Alice Howlett (17399) , daughter of Thomas Howlett (18326) (ca 1637-22 Dec 1667[1668]) & Lydia Pabodie (6732) (ca 1640-30 Apr 1715), in Ipswich, MA. Born ca 1666 in Boxford, MA. Alice died bef Dec 1696 in Topsfield, MA.

On 23 Nov 1696 when Isaac was 32, he second married Frances Sherwin, daughter of John Sherwin (ca 1644-15 Oct 1726) & Frances Loomis (ca 1646-ca 1691), in Topsfield, MA. Born on 27 Jan 1681/2 in Ipswich, MA. Frances died in Ipswich, MA, on 13 Mar 1770; she was 88.

3817. John Cummings. Born on 7 Jun 1666 in Topsfield, MA.47 John died in Topsfield, MA, on 16 Jul 1722; he was 56.

    John’s “will was made May 8, 1722, and proved July 16 following. He bought Jan. I, 1693-4, of Grace Andrews, his grandmother, widow of Robert, for £60, 80 acres swamp and meadows, south side of Ipswich River ‘second division,’ bounded by Porter, Ipswich river, William Town and William Perkins. His father in 1718, deeded his homestead to him. He was then dwelling on the tract first mentioned. In his will, after giving to Susanna her thirds of lands on the south side of the river, he divided the farm his father gave him between his sons, Joseph and John, partly in Topsfield and partly in Ipswich, north side of the river; to his son, David, who was executor, all his lands on the south side of the river and the east side of Nichols’ brook, and a small piece of meadow on the west side of that brook; to his youngest sons, Stebbings and Samuel, ‘all the rest of my lands and meadows on the west side of said brook to the river.’ He made specific gifts to his daughters also.”

On 23 Jan 1687/8 when John was 21, he married Susannah Towne, daughter of Joseph Towne (3 Sep 1639-21 Feb 1713) & Phebe Perkins (ca 1644-), in Topsfield, MA. Born on 24 Dec 1671 in Topsfield, MA.47 Susannah died in Topsfield, MA, on 13 Sep 1766; she was 94.47

3818. Thomas Cummings. Born on 27 Jun 1670 in Topsfield, MA.47 Thomas died bef 25 Dec 1749 in Boxford, MA.

    Thomas’s “will was proved, Dec. 25, 1749. January 21, 1716, he bought of Peter Prescott and Elizabeth, his wife, a house and 20 acres of land joining on Salem village (North Danvers). This he sold for £200, to Samuel White, April 20, 1722. March 13, 1700, he bought of Thomas Newmark and Mary, his wife, one fourth part of 800 acres at Fishing brook, bounded on Thomas Manning, John Gould and the Andover line. This is in Boxford. March 9, 1708, he bought of John Styles and David Peabodv, of Boxford, and Samuel Fisk, of Wenham, one fourth part of 800 acres, south side of same brook. part of bounds being near Andover line. Decembcr 26, 1743, he deeded 80 acres, a gift to Jacob his son, in ‘the saw-mill lot’ and he willed to the same his homestead. May 16, 1744, he gave his son, Samuel, a farm at Lunenburg. He bequeathed to his son, Samuel, ‘all that land bought of Edward Jartwell. July 20, 1726, Iying in Lancaster New Grant (Lunenburg, Mass.) and the other part Iying in Turkey Hill, now in possession of Samuel; also the house he lives in, barn and orchard.’ He gave his daughters £20 each with sundry household goods, and, naming Jacob executor, left to him his homestead. He was selectman in Boxford, 1713, 1721, 1728 and 1731.”

On 20 Mar 1705 when Thomas was 34, he married Mehitable Porter, daughter of Joseph Porter (9 Sep 1638-12 Dec 1714) & Ann Hawthorne (12 Dec 1643-), in Topsfield, MA.47 Born on 24 Jun 1682 in Salem, MA. Mehitable died in Boxford, MA, on 9 May 1738; she was 55.

On 13 Jan 1695 when Rebecca was 20, she first married Thomas Howlett (29614) , son of William Howlett (18331) (ca 1650-ca 1718) & Mary Perkins (ca 1651-ca Jun 1728), in Topsfield, MA.47 Born on 26 Oct 1672 in Topsfield, MA. Thomas died in Topsfield, MA, on 10 Feb 1712/3; he was 40.

They had no children.

On 20 Dec 1715 when Rebecca was 41, she second married Michael Whidden, son of John Whidden (-bef 7 Sep 1681) & Elilzabeth [Whidden], in Topsfield, MA. Born ca 1668. Michael died between 26 Sep 1738 and 28 Mar 1739 in Portsmouth, NH.

3821. Abigail Cummings. Born ca 1676 in Topsfield, MA. Abigail died on 22 Jan 1725/6 in Rowley, MA.47

On 28 Mar 1693/4 Abigail married Samuel Perley (6825) , son of Samuel Perley (1887) (ca 1640-aft 1707) & Ruth Trumble (2190) (23 Feb 1645-), in Topsfield, MA.47 Born on 28 May 1667 in Ipswich, MA.47 Samuel died in Rowley, MA, on 24 Oct 1746; he was 79.
