David removed to Cambridge before his second marriage, and they afterwards settled in Newton. David lived to an advanced age and was known as “Old Stowell.”33

On 4 Dec 1685 David first married Mary Champney (26914) , daughter of Samuel Champney (Sep 1635-) & Sarah Hubbard (14979) (ca 1636-).33 Born on 12 May 1662 in Billerica, MA. Mary died in Watertown, MA, on 9 Sep 1690; she was 28.177

“Thomas, was probably the first person bearing this surname in Hingham, and although most of his descendants have lived and died here during the past two [now three] centuries, but little information concerning their births, marriages, and deaths, is found upon our records. Hence the names and dates relating to the several famillies may not in every instance be correct.”33

George in his will, probated 9 Jun 1741, provedid ‘and further ’tis my mind and will that my negro man servant, named Boston, should, in consideration of his faithful services be set at liberty and have his full freedom from a state of slavery, after the decease of my said wife, Elizabeth Lane.’177
