Jonathan Alden (16878) (ca 1632/3-14 Feb 1697) & Abigail Hallet (ca 1644/5-17 Aug 1725), in the Second Church of Scituate.85,116 Born 1680/1682 in Duxbury, MA. John died on 24 Jul 1739 in Duxbury, MA.225 Buried in Old Cemetery, Centre Street, South Duxbury.

George King and Deborah Briggs’s widowed parents, Dea. Thomas King and Deborah (Hawke) Briggs, had been married several years before George and Deborah married, in fact, when George was 18 and Deborah was 15, so they were well acquainted.

On 12 Jul 1710 when Deborah was 24, she married Dea. George King (15940) , son of Dea. Thomas King (5890) (21 Jun 1645-1 Dec 1711) & Elizabeth Clap (11075) (ca 1647-18 Mar 1698), in Scituate, MA.116 Born in Aug 1682 in Scituate, MA.116 George died on 16 Jun 1754 in Scituate, MA.116 Buried in Scituate, MA GR14.

“Dea. George inherited the farm south of Stoney cove brook, which had been originally Anthony Annable’s land, then the farm of Rawlins, then Dea. Thomas King’s.”116

“George King succeeded his father as Deacon of the Second Church, and inherited the family home at Stony Cove Brook, which had been built by Deacond Thomas King before 1680, on the site of the house of Thomas Rawlins, which ahd been burned by the Indians in the raid of 1676. The land on which it stood was the ‘greate lott’ along the North River granted to Anthony Annable in 1636.”7

George purchased land in Ashford, CT, in 1723 and 1724.7

From Briggs’ Shipbuilding on North River:
    “Just above [Hatch's Bridge] there is a dam built probably about 1716, as, 'On July 1st, 1716, John Rodgers of Marshfield, John Cushing, Amos Turner, George King, Joseph Barstow, Samuel Barstow, Michael Wanton and James Hatch, all of Scituate, and Joseph Stockbridge of Pembroke, enter into an agreement in regard to a saw-mill that they are building in Scituate upon Drinkwater River, near where the line between Scituate and Abington crosses the river.'”

John was born on the homestead at Conihassett shortly after his father’s death. John and Deborah resided at Scituate until 1714 when he sold part of the old estate at Conihassett to his cousin Joseph Briggs (son of Cornelius), and purchased from his aunt Hannah Jolles the house on Prince Street, Boston, which had been given to her by her father, Walter Briggs, on her marriage to Samuel Winslow.7

On 2 Dec 1712 when John was 25, he married Deborah Cushing (12049) , daughter of Hon. John Cushing (3942) (28 Apr 1662-19 Jan 1738) & Deborah Loring (6143) (15 Mar 1668-9 Jun 1713), in Scituate, MA.116 Born on 2 Apr 1693 in Scituate, MA.116
