5299. Mary Tallman. Born ca 1651 in Portsmouth, RI. Mary died in Jun 1720 in Tiverton, RI.91

Mary Tallman’s will was proved 19 Jan 1721. It names her children Alice, John, Samuel Sheffield, Sarah Wilcox, Mary Read, Elizabeth Cook, and Richard Cook.

On 29 Apr 1669 Mary married Ens. John Pearce (17495) , son of Richard Pearce (6756) (1615-1678) & Susannah Wright (1627-1678), in Portsmouth, RI. Born on 8 Sep 1647 in Portsmouth, RI.66 John died in Tiverton, MA (now RI), on 5 Dec 1707; he was 60.287 Occupation: mason.

John and Mary resided in Portsmouth and Tiverton. John, freeman of the town of Portsmouth 28 Apr 1669, and of the colony from Portsmouth 2 May 1671. In 1681 he made several purchases of lands in Pocassett, afterwards Tiverton. He probably settled in Pocassett about 1682-3 and was one of the incorportators of Tiverton 1692. John was commissioned an Ensign of the militia, moderator of town meeting at Tiverton in 1705. Tiverton was incorportated as a town 2 Mar 1692, and among the 27 citizens at that time residing there was John Pearce.91

Apr. 11, 1689 he sold lands in Pocassett to William Wodell, Jr.
Dec. 11, 1706 he sold lands in Portsmontil to Thomas Durfee.
Aug. 3, 1709, an agreement was filed between John Pearce of Tivcrton, John Read, Jr., of Freetown and Mary his wife, Samuel Shearman and Sarah his wife of Swanzey, Thomas Cook, Jr., and his wife Elizabeth, John Cook, son of John Cook and Rachel his wife of Tiverton, and Alice Pearce, all children of John Pearce, deceased, who died intestate. John was the only son. He was commissioned an Ensign of militia; moderator of town meeting at Tiverton in 1705. He is said to have been a mason by trade. His gravestone still [1887] remains with legiable inscription.91

On 3 Mar 1673/4 Elizabeth married Isaac Lawton, son of Thomas Lawton (ca 1614-29 Sep 1681) & Elizabeth Salsburie (ca 1616-1675), in Portsmouth, RI.269 Isaac Lawton, son of Thomas, and Elizabeth Tallman, daughter of Peter, were married by Joshua Coggeshall, Assistant, 3 Mar 1673/4. Born on 11 Dec 1650 in Portsmouth, RI.269 Isaac died in Portsmouth, RI, on 25th 11m 1731 [25 Jan 1731/2]; he was 81.269

Isaac was a deputy of the General court eight years ranging from 1696 through 1708.91

Peter on 5 Nov 1703 sold land at Dragon Swamp in Farnham Parish, Rappahannock Co., VA, as heir of Robert HIll, his uncle, of Rappahannock Co.71

On 7 Nov 1683 when Peter was 25, he married Ann Wright, daughter of Benjamin Wright (ca 1610-29 Mar 1677) & Jane Meigs (ca 1617-16 Dec 1724), in Portsmouth, RI.66 Born say 1658 in Guilford, CT. Ann died on 21 May 1731 in Guilford, CT.66

ca 1676 Susannah married Joseph Beckwith, son of Matthew Beckwith (22 Sep 1610-21 Oct 1680) & Elizabeth Lynde (-bef 1690). Born ca 1653 in New London, CT. Joseph died ca 1707 in Lyme, CT.
