6008. Sarah Lake. Born on 10 May 1678 in Tiverton, MA (now RI).268 Sarah died in Tiverton, RI, on 10 May 1754; she was 76.287

ca 1698 Sarah married Josiah Stafford (37283) , son of Sylvester Stover (ca 1630-bet. 21 Jul 1687 and 14 Feb 1689/90) & Elizabeth Norton (35072) (ca 1635-bet. 7 Dec 1714 and 4 Sep 1722), in Tiverton, MA (now RI).66 Born ca 1662 in Cape Neddick, York, ME. Josiah died on 9 Apr 1743 in Tiverton, MA (Now RI).287 Religion: Quaker.

Josiah was born Josiah Stover, but his name changed to Stafford. On 11 Apr 1699 Josiah and Sarah were before the Bristol Court for fornification before marriage, but the child not yet being born, the case was continued. In the case, she is described as ‘Sarah Lake, now the wife of Josiah Stafford.’

Will abstract. Dated 6 Jan 1742, mentions wife Sarah, eldest son Joseph Stafford, Joseph’s eight sisters, my daughters Sarah, Elizabeth, Bethiah, Bathsheba, Phebe, Priscill, Hannah, and Patience, son David Stafford, son Abraham Stafford, daughter Priscilla Lowden.210

ca 1700 David married Mary Wilcox (11509) , daughter of Daniel Wilcox (ca 1656-) & Hannah Cook (3671) (ca 1660-22 Oct 1736). Born on 25 Feb 1682 in Portsmouth, RI.269 Mary died in Newport, RI, on 6 May 1747; she was 65.

Joel and Sarah resided in Little Compton and Tiverton.
