6756. Richard Pearce. Born in 1615 in Bristol, England.91 Richard died in 1678 in Portsmouth, RI.91

“Richard Pearse was at Portsmouth as early as 1664, when he was a witness to a deed of 12 acres of land and a house purchased of William James by Henry Piercy.
    “Jan. 14, 1657, he was a witness to s deed. June 8, 1657, he was chosen surveyor of marks of all ‘Cattell that goe’ from this town.
    “June 11, 1658, he was a witness to a will. May 18, 1658, he was admitted Freeman of the Colony from Portsmouth.
    “Nov 16, 1666, he purchased 2 acres 7 rods of land of Jacob Cole; 1669 he purchased of Joseph Parker 14 acres of land in Portsmouth.
    “His will was drawn April 23, 1677, and was proved in Portsmouth Oct. 28, 1678. His son Richard was the executor and he calls him his ‘eldest son.’”91

An entry in the Aspinwall Notarial Records, Boston, 1903, pp. 85-86: “Richard Pierce of Prudence Island in the Narrowgansett Bay did acknowledge the receite of twenty pounds of Elizabeth Dell Executrix of the last will & Testament of Raph Dell of Bow in Middlesex due as a Legacie unto his wife Susanna daughter of John Wrighte of Walton [Waltham] Abbey parish in Essex yeoman: & doth acquitt & discharge the said Elisabeth of the said Legacie & every part thereof. Signed & sealed the 14 (7) before me the Not. publ. 1647.”349

On 2 Mar 1642 Richard married Susannah Wright, daughter of John Wright (-Jul 1643) & Mary Dell (-Feb 1637/8), in Waltham Abbey, Essex.349 Born in 1627 in Waltham Abbey, Essex. Susannah was baptized in Waltham Abbey, Essex, on 5 Aug 1627.349 Susannah died in 1678 in Portsmouth, RI.66

6757. John Peirce. Born ca 1617 in Bristol, England. John died on 17 Sep 1661 in Dorchester, MA.91 Occupation: Cooper.

“While John resided in Dorchester his uncle, Capt. Wm. Pearse, was sent by Gov. Winthrop to Ireland with his ship Lyon for provisions for the colony, as there was a scarcity one year. Oct. 8, 1633, John was selected as one of the first selectmen of Dorchester. He was one of the first grantees of lands in that town prior to 1636.”91

John first married Mary [Pearce]. Mary died on 12 Jul 1647 in Boston, MA.91
