Gertruy Rees married Johannes Andriesz Scherp three years before her brother Andries Rees married Ariaantje Andriesse Scherp, Johannes Andriesz Scherp’s sister.

On 25 Nov 1694 Gertruy married Johannes Andriesz Scherp, son of Andries Scherp (ca 1640-) & Ariaanje Janse (ca 1642-), in Reformed Dutch Church of Albany.242 Johannes Andriesz Scherp, y.m., and Geertruy Rees, y.d.; both live near New Albany. Born ca 1670 in Kinderhook, Columbia Co. NY.

“Johannis Scherp” was a freeholder in Claverack in 1720.109

Johannes was a witness at the 1710 Albany baptism of his nephew Willem, son of Andries Rees and Ariaantje Scharp.242

Andries and Ariaantje were witnesses at the 1724 baptism for their nephew Andrie Rees (son of Ephraim and Grietje Rees).

Andries of Claverac. “Andries Rees” was a freeholder in Claverack in 1720.109

On 1 Apr 1697 Andries married Ariaantje Andriesse Scherp, daughter of Andries Scherp (ca 1640-) & Ariaanje Janse (ca 1642-), in Reformed Dutch Church of Albany.242 Andries Rees, y.m., and Arianntje Andriesse Scharp, y.d.; both live near New Albany. Born ca 1667 in Kinderhook, Columbia Co., NY.96

Ariaantje Andriesse Scherp (or Scharp) married Andries Rees three years after her brother Johannes Andriesz Scherp married Geertruy Rees, Andries Rees’ sister.

Known as "Jan Rees of Kinderhook 1709, of Claverack 1720". Jan and Maria Rees were sponsors at the 1704 Albany baptism of their niece Lysbeth, daughter of Andries and Arianntje Rees.242

“John Rees” was a freeholder in Claverack in 1720.109

On 1 Nov 1702 Jan married Marytge Janse Goewey, daughter of Jan Salomonse Goewey (ca 1650-28 Sep 1731) & Caatje Loockermans, in Reformed Dutch Church of Albany.242 Jan. Rees, y.m., born and living in colony of Rensselaerwyck, and Maria Janse Goewey, y.d., born and living at New Albany, married at the brides’ father’s house. Born ca 1680.96

7109. Cornelia Rees. Born ca 1685 in Coxsackie, Greene Co., NY. Cornelia was baptized in Reformed Dutch Church of Albany, on 16 Sep 1685.242 Cornelis, of Willem Rees; wit. Phlip Leendertsz; presented for baptism by Agnietje Henderiksz.

Cornelia was very likely a daughter of William Andriesse Rees; the baptism says “Cornelis” but could be a misprint for “Cornelia”. Furthermore, the witnesses at her son Andreas’s 1712 baptism were Wilhelm Roos and wife Catherina; also the witnesses at her daughter Cornelia’s 1718 baptism were Leonhard and Volckge Rees, and Leonhard was very likely the son of William Andriesse Rees.

On 28 Oct 1704 Cornelia married Pieter Lassen, son of Pieter Lassingh (-7 Feb 1708/9) & Catharina Hoffmayer, in Reformed Dutch Church of Albany.242 After 3 banns, Pieter Lanssing Jr., born at Albany, living at Lange Rak, and Cornelia Rees, y.d., born at Koxhakki, living at colony in Rensselaerwyck. Born ca 1677/80 in Albany, NY.355 Pieter died in 1762/1765 in Dutchess Co., NY.96

Pieter Lassen, or Lassingh, or Lansing, of Lange Rak (Long Rock or Long Reach).

In 1714 “Peter Lasink” was the head of a household in Dutchess County with one male 16-60 (himself), 4 males under 16, and one female 16-60 (his wife).356

Peter Lasseing, or Lassink, was on the taxpayer list of Fishkill and Rombout for 1718-1729.357

Peter and Cornelia were witnesses at several baptisms: 1728 for their nephew Lawrenz, son of Yzaak and Sarah Lassing; 1732 for their grandson Johannes, son of Johannes and Catharina Lassing; 1737 for their granddaughter Cornelia, daughter of Pieter Pieterse Lassing and Anna Maria.

    1719 for their neice Catherine, daughter of Jonathan Rees and Sarah Hardick;
    1727 for Anna Catharina, daughter of Hans Jurgen Rau & Catharina;
    1732 for their nephew Justus, son of Willem and Anna Catharina Herdyk.

Leonhard was a witness in 1734 for his nephew Benjamin, son of Benjamin Rees.

The member list for the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Rhinebeck, about Feb 1734, has Leonhart Rees, his wife Volje, Catharina, and Sara.

On 10 Mar 1717 Leonhard married Volkje Hardick (7976) , daughter of Francis Hardick (-ca 1742) & Caterina Jansz Van Hoesen (2219) (ca 1653-ca 1735), in Claverack, NY.300 “at the house of Francis Hardick [Volkje’s father], Klaverack, Leonhard Roest and Volckge Hardick” Recorded at the New York Lutheran Church. Born ca 1697 in Claverack, Columbia Co., NY. Volkje died aft 1750.

7111. Jonathan Rees. Born in 1690 in Albany, Albany Co., NY. Jonathan was baptized in Reformed Dutch Church of Albany, on 26 Jan 1690.242 Jonathan, of Andries Rees, witness Dirk Ten Broek, presented for baptism by Styntje [Christina] Ten Broek. Jonathan died aft 24 Nov 1753 in Claverack, Columbia Co., NY. Religion: Lutheran.

Although Jonathan’s baptism says “of Andries Rees,” probably Andries Rees was not his father, but William Andries was his father.

“Jonat: Rees” was a freeholder in the north part of Livingston Manor in 1720.109

The member list for the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Rhinebeck, about Feb 1734, has Jonathan Rees, his wife Sarah, Henrich, Volje, Francisca, Jean, Wilhelm, and Jonathan. Catarina is not listed.

Jonathan and Sara were witnesses at the 1734 baptism of Lea, daughter of Thomas Gertser [Carter] & Margreta (on the same day Thomas and Margret were witnesses for Jonathan and Sarah’s son Jonathan), also the 1742 baptism of Abraham, son of Jacob and Gertruyd Van Hoesen.

Will abstract: Jonathan Rees of Claverack. Dated 24 Nov 1753, probated 28 Mar 1801. Mentions eldest son Hendrick, sons Jan, Jonathan, Francis, & William; wife Sarah; daughter Volkie. Executors: wife Sarah, Joris and Jacob Herder. Witnesses: Jonathan Becraft, Sacharyas Haus, & James Stenhouse.358

On 25 Apr 1714 Jonathan married Sara Hardick (7975) , daughter of Francis Hardick (-ca 1742) & Caterina Jansz Van Hoesen (2219) (ca 1653-ca 1735), in Klinkenberg, Columbia Co., NY.300 “At Klinkenberg, Jonathan Reest, j.m. of Claverack, to Sarah Hardick of Claverack” Recorded at Athens Lutheran Church, also the New York Lutheran Church. Born in 1694 in Claverack, Columbia Co., NY. Sara was baptized in Kingston Church, Kingston, on 10 Jun 1694.300 Witnesses: Cornelis Martensen & Cornelia Vredenburg.

    1739 for their grandson Ephraim Witbeck, son of Pieter and Christina;
    1743 for Margarete Rees, their granddaughter; and
    1745 for Jacomyntje, daughter of Jacobus Van Deusen & Catharine.

(An Ephraim Reese & Friedge were witnesses at the 1748 baptism of Ephraim’s granddaughter Margaretha (d. of Christoffel). Was that another Ephraim, or was this Ephraim remarried between 1745 and 1748?)

On 21 Sep 1714 Ephraim married Margarete Bressie, daughter of Christopher Bressie (ca 1650-ca 1715) & Christine Claezen (-ca 1720), in St. Pauls Luteran Ch, West Camp, Ulster Co.300 “Epraim Reess, son of Wilhelm, Claverack, to Margretha Brehjes, daughter of Christoph, of Rulphianskill, near Livingston Manor”. Born in 1690. Margarete was baptized in Reformed Dutch Church of Albany, on 16 May 1690.242 Margriette, daughter of Christoffel Brussy, presented by Arianantje Wendell.

Benjamin was baptized in Reformed Dutch Church of Albany, on 7 Feb 1694.242 Benjamin, son of Wilhem Rees and Catryn Jansz; witnesses Robbert Levingston [Robert Livingston], Alida Levingston; the parents belonging to the Lutheran Church, the witnesses promise to educate the child in the confession of our church [the Reformed Church].

ca 1716 Benjamin married Geertruy Witbeck, daughter of Hendrick Jansz Witbeck (ca 1667-) & Lyntje Winne (say 1671-).96 Born in 1697. Geertruy was baptized in Reformed Dutch Church of Albany, on 4 Apr 1697.242 Geertruy, of Hendrik Jansz & Lyntje Winnen, witnesses Jelis Fonda & Rachel Fonda.

A Hendrik Rees & Catharina Reesen were witnesses at the 1735 baptism of Gerritje, daughter of Thomas Carteret & Anna Margreta. Also, a Henrich and Lyntje Rees were sponsors at the 1738 baptism of Lena Witbeck, daughter of Christina (Race) Witbeck. Were either of these this Henderick?
