7882. Mary Doughty. Born on 23 Jun 1650 in Scituate, MA.7 Mary died in 1680/83.7

Mary, first married Samuel Russell, second Cornelius Briggs. Samuel was one of Cornelius’s fellow soldiers who had fallen the year before Cornelius married Samuel’s widow Mary.2

Mary inherited the Russell house at Greenbush and continuted to reside in it after her marriage to Cornelius.7

Mary first married Samuel Russell (2031) , son of George Russell (572) (1595-26 May 1694). Samuel died in Apr 1676 in Rehoboth, MA.7

Samuel was killed in the Rehoboth battle.7

On 20 Mar 1677 when Mary was 26, she second married Ens. Cornelius Briggs (2995) , son of Walter Briggs (815) (-ca 1684) & Mary [Briggs] (-aft 1684), in Scituate, MA.85 “Cornelious briggs and mary Russell widdow both of Scittuate was marryed ye 20th of march 1677”. Born in 1647 in Scituate, MA.116 Cornelius died on 20 Oct 1694 in Scituate, MA.116 Occupation: boatman.7

Cornelius “was an Ensign in Philip's war, with his two brothers who were his superior officers. "6 He also served in the war against the French and Indians in 1693 as Captain of a company in an ‘Expedition to the Eastward.’7

Capt. Cornelius Briggs was a large landholder in Swanzey and vicinity.7

After his second marriage, Cornelius continued to live for a time in the Russell house in Scituate, where his son James was born, and later removed to Barnstable, where the rest of his children were probably born. He sold the Russell house in 1688 to David Jacob. He was admitted a freeman in Barnstable in 1689. Before 1693 he removed back to Scituate.7

In 1679 Elizabeth married Job Randall (3417) , son of William Randall (1963) (16 Mar 1598/9-13 Oct 1693) & Elizabeth Carver (959) (ca 1618-), in Scituate, MA.152 Born on 8 Feb 1654/5 in Scituate, MA.116,3 At the age of 1, Job was baptized in Scituate, MA, on 4 Mar 1655.152 Job died in Scituate, MA, on 19 Sep 1727; he was 73.116 Buried in Second Church Cemetery, Norwell. Occupation: shipwright.

“Job, (shipwright and a very respectable and useful man) settled one fourth mile south of the Herring brook hill, (now [1831] David Torrey’s). ... From this family the Randalls (Samuel &c.) in the west part of the Town are descended.”6
