8597. Gov. Josiah Winslow. Born aft 22 May 1627 in Plymouth, MA.5 Josiah died on 18 Dec 1680.2

Josiah was chosen an Assistant. He had been representative a year or two before and was in military office at age 23. In 1658 he became head of the forces of the Coloony and one of the commissioners of the United Colony of New England when he did not subscribe to their recommendation to put to death the quakers. He was Governor from 1673 until his death.2

In 1651 Josiah married Penelope Pelham, daughter of Herbert Pelham (ca 1600-1674) & Jemima Waldegrave (ca 1606-ca 1639).2 Penelope died on 7 Dec 170[3] in Marshfield, MA.20

On 22 Sep 1669 Elizabeth second married George Curwin in Salem, MA.5
