Jacob and Mary resided in Hingham Center, MA. He was selectman 1729, 1730, 1731, and 1737; deputy to the General Court 1737-1740, 1744, 1745, and several years after; member of the Committee of Correspondence on the eve of the Revolution. ‘He was a respectable magistrate of good judgment and more than ordinary ability.’48

On 3 Dec 1739 when Jacob was 43, he married Mary Chauncy, daughter of Charles Chauncy (ca 1670-4 May 1711) & Sarah Walley.48 Born on 19 Dec 1706 in Boston, MA. Mary died in Hingham, MA, on 4 Aug 1776; she was 69.33

Mary, great-graddaughter of Charles Chauncy, 2nd President of Harvard College. The Chauncy family trace their descent through a female branch from Charlemagne and King Alfred the Great (see Chauncy Memorials).48

Noah and Sarah were double second cousins once removed. They were both descendants of Matthew & Nazareth (Pitcher) Cushing and of Nicholas & Mary (Gilman) Jacob.
