David settled at Assinippi on the Plymouth road, a half mile south-east of the mill.6 This is where the tavern kept by his nephew David is standing, now [1936] Moses Brown’s.7

12089. Mary Jacob. Born on 15 Jul 1692 in Scituate, MA.116 Mary died in Hingham, MA, on 22 Nov 1775; she was 83.120

On 28 Dec 1710 when Mary was 18, she married Francis Barker (9211) , son of Lieut. Francis Barker (2577) (ca 1646-1720) & Mary Lincoln (6033) (10 Feb 1647/8-), in Scituate, MA.85 Born on 18 Oct 1682 in Duxbury, MA.225 Francis died in 1733.120

“Francis was a cordwainer and ‘master shipwright,’ also had a foundry, by 1726 he had attained the rank of ‘gentleman.’”120 He died in the Jerseys 1733.33

On 25 May 1719 when Deborah was 21, she married Dr. Isaac Otis (25219) , son of Capt. Stephen Otis (13735) (1661-26 Aug 1733) & Hannah Ensign (13010) (ca 1667-1 May 1729), in Scituate, MA.85 Born in 1699 in Scituate, MA.223 Isaac died on 11 Nov 1777 in Scituate, MA.116 Buried in South Parish Cem. Norwell.

Isaac was born in the Ensign house in Scituate.7

Dr. Isaac, the first regular bred physician who settled in Scituate, and to whom the Town 'Voted a settlement of £100 to encourage him to remain in the Town,' in 1719. “He is remembered by some of our aged people as a gentleman of uncommon accomplishments of person and of mind.”6

He purchased first a property on what is now called Old Oaken Bucket Road, near Greenbush Village, known as the ‘widow Nichols property,’ near George Moore’s bridge. He lived there until 1723, when he bought of Joseph Nash the house near Stony Cove Brook, built by him in 1700. There was an exchange of properties at this time, Joseph Nash taking title to the larger estate, and Dr. Otis, the smaller, which was more desirable situated for a doctor, being located on the main highway leading to the ‘up river settlement.’7

Joshua resided at Assinippi in the old Jacob’s homestead, east of the mill which his father had built for his sons when the General Court passed and Act of Incorporation for the new town of Hanover, ‘David Jacob’s saw mill dam’ was mentioned in it. Both grist and sawmills were erected, the grist mill on the westerly, and the sawmill on the easterly flume. The grist mill was abandoned many year ago [before 1936], but the old Jacobs sawmill stood until 4 Jul 1920 wih it was burned. Jacob’s Mill Pond, with its island near the eastern shore, is the most beautiful and pictureesque spot in Assinippi [according to Briggs].7

On 7 Apr 1726 when Joshua was 24, he married Mary James (14377) , daughter of Dea. John James (19521) (10 Jan 1676/7-28 Sep 1761) & Eunice Stetson (5130) (Mar 1683/4-29 Aug 1717), in Scituate, MA.116 Born on 5 Oct 1704 in Scituate, MA.116 Mary died in Scituate, MA, on 22 Jul 1803; she was 98.

Matthew Cushing (3941) (15 Jul 1660-23 Jun 1715) & Jael Jacob (7279) (7 Sep 1662-23 Dec 1708), in Scituate, MA.116 Born on 14 Feb 1698/9 in Hingham, MA.33 Samuel died in Hingham, MA, on 13 Dec 1792; he was 93.

Samuel resided on King Street in the second precinct of Hingham. He was selectman 1731, 1732, 1746, and 1749; justice of the peace, and often engaged in the public affairs of the town.33

Joseph and Mary settled on the Plymouth Road at the foot of Barstow’s hill on the northwest side, and east of Gilman Plain. The old house of Dr. Joseph Jacobs was removed from its former site, and is now (1936) standing earer the top of the hill, on the east.7

On 30 Aug 1734 when Joseph was 27, he married Mary Foster (9532) , daughter of Edward Foster (26339) (22 Jan 1682/3-20 Jan 1761) & Jemima Turner (2755) (9 Oct 1680-29 Feb 1715/6), in Scituate, MA.116 Born on 13 Aug 1711 in Dorchester, MA. Mary died aft 1761 in Scituate, MA.
