Jonathan was selectman of Watertown in 1739, 1740, and 1741. His epitaph: “He was a lover of steady, good men./ He remained steady in the Christian Duties through his life,/ And we trust he died the death.”¹¹

13575. Capt. John Brown. Born on 19 Apr 1705 in Watertown, MA.¹¹ John died in 1784 in Weston, MA.¹¹

John was selectman of Waltham six years from 1744 through 1752, and representative in 1748. He was an innholder in 1737and 1738. In 1759 his holdings were assessed the second greatest in Waltham. In 1761 he moved to Weston. From 1770 through 1778 he resided in Newton, then return to Weston.¹¹

On 20 Jul 1732 when John was 27, he first married Abigail Bright, daughter of Nathaniel Bright (5 May 1647-11 May 1726) & Mary Coolidge (11 Dec 1660-1 Dec 1717).¹¹ Abigail died on 4 May 1733 in Waltham, MA.¹¹ Abigail died in childbed.
