14230. Mary Tilden. Born ca May 1610 in Tenterden, Kent. Mary was baptized in Tenterdon, Kent, on 20 May 1610. Mary died aft 28 Mar 1690 in Bridgewater, MA.5

On 13 Mar 1636/7 Mary first married Thomas Lapham in Scituate, MA. Born ca 1610 in England. Thomas died on 15 Jun 1648 in Scituate, MA.

Thomas came on the Hercules as a servant of Nathaniel Tilden, father of his soon to be wife.

“Thomas Lapham was in Scituate 1640. His residence was near the harbour.”6

Thomas's estate was probated 1 Oct 1651.

Mary second married William Bassett. Born ca 1596 in Bethnal Green, Middlesex, Eng. William died on 12 May 1667 in Bridgewater, MA. Occupation: blacksmith.

William first married Elizabeth, second married Mary (Tilden) Lapham.

William came to New England on the Fortune in 1621. He resided first at Plymouth, then Duxbury by 1637, Bridgewater by 1656, and settled in Marshfield.5

14231. Joseph Tilden. Born ca Jan 1611/2 in Tenterden, Kent. Joseph was baptized in Tenterdon, Kent, on 12 Jan 1611/2. Joseph died in Mar 1611/2 in Tenterdon, Kent. Buried on 15 Mar 1611/2 in Tenterdon, Kent.

14232. Sarah Tilden. Born ca Jan 1612/3 in Tenterden, Kent. Sarah was baptized in Tenterdon, Kent, on 13 Jan 1612/3. Sarah died on Mar 20 1676/7 in Albemarle Co., Perquimans District, NC.

On 13 Mar 1635/6 Sarah married George Sutton, son of Ambrose Sutton & Sarah Warner, in Scituate, MA. Born ca 1613 in Tenterdon, Kent. George was baptized in Tenterdon, Kent, on 12 Apr 1613. George died on 12 Apr 1669 in Albemarle Co., Perquimans District, NC.

“George Sutton had lands laid out in 1638, on the 1st. Herring brook [in Scituate]. His house was near John Daman’s at the south-west end of Green field lane, where it unites with the Drift way.”6

George came to New England on the Hercules. He was a servant to Nathaniel Tilden and future father-in-law. He was a planter in Scituate from 1638-1643, and was a town officer. By 1650 he was a Quaker, and removed to Perquimans Co., North Carolina, by 1668 with most of his family.404

14233. Dea. Joseph Tilden. Born ca Apr 1615 in Tenterden, Kent. Joseph was baptized in Tenterdon, Kent, on 20 Apr 1615. Joseph died on 3 Jun 1670 in Scituate, MA.116 Religion: Second Church of Scituate.

Joseph was on the roll of those that bore arms in Scituate in 1643. “Dea. Joseph succeeded to his father’s residence on Kent street. He bolonged to the 2d. Church, of which he was chosen Deacon 1655: and of course he belonged to the liberal or moderate class of Puritans.”6

Joseph came from England on the Hercules in 1635 with his father.2

On 20 Nov 1649 Joseph married Alice Twisden, daughter of John Twisden (10 Sep 1592-12 Nov 1660) & Susanne Stuppell (ca 1600-24 Jan 1691/2), in Scituate, MA.3 “Joseph Tilden married to Ellice Twisden November the 20^th 1649”. Born ca Mar 1633 in Frittenden, Kent. Alice was baptized in Frittenden, Kent, on 31 Mar 1633. Alice died aft 1694.

Born ca 1644 in Scituate, MA. Mary was baptized in the Second Church of Scituate, in Apr 1661.116 Mary died aft 21 May 1705.

On Jan 3 1640/1 Judith married Abraham Preble, son of Robert Preble & Joan [Preble], in Scituate, MA. Born ca 1603 in Wootton, Kent, Eng. Abraham died on 23 Jan 1662/3 in York, ME.

Abraham Preble was amongst the men of Kent, in Scituate 1636. Soon after 1648 he removed to Georgiana or York.6

14239. Lydia Tilden. Born ca Sep 1625 in Tenterden, Kent. Lydia was baptized in St. Mildred’s, Tenterden, on 28 Sep 1625. Lydia died ca Jun 1673 in Marshfield, MA.

ca 1646 Lydia married Dea. Richard Garrett.7 Richard died on 29 Mar 1662 in Boston, MA.

“Dea. Richard Garrett was in Scituate before 1636. He was the first Town Clerk, 1636, also clerk of the Conihassett partners ten years, though not a partner himself, being a skillful penman. His land was nearly in front of the north or first Society’s Meeting-house, as it now [1831] stands, which was probably his house lot. Also east of Eagle’s nest swamp, where his sons John and Joseph settled.”6

“He was the fourth Deacon of the First Church. (Eagle Nest was the large swamp lying south of High Street, now (1936) Thomas Clap Road, in Scituate.)”7

14240. Stephen Tilden. Born ca Oct 1629 in Tenterden, Kent. Stephen was baptized in St. Mildred's, Tenterden, on 11 Oct 1629. Stephen died on 22 Aug 1711 in Scituate, MA.116

Stephen came in the Hercules with his family in 1635 from Sandwich, Kent. Stephen took the oath of fidelity in Scituate in 1657. Stephen and Joseph Tilden, probably his brother, petitioned the Plymouth court June 7, 1653 to lay out a way for them "unto the island commonly called Hatch's Island, and unto the island called Cooper's Island."

On 15 Jan 1661[/2] Stephen married Hannah Little (8336) , daughter of Thomas Little (ca 1608/1613-Mar 1671) & Anna Warren (2290) (ca 1612-aft 19 Feb 1675/6), in Scituate, MA.85,3 Born ca 1641.5 Hannah died on 13 May 1710 in Scituate, MA.24
