Lydia and Joseph were second cousins as his paternal grandmother and her maternal grandmother were sisters.

On 29 Mar 1733 when Lydia was 16, she married Dea. Joseph Cushing (12111) , son of Dea. Joseph Cushing (3952) (23 Sep 1677-12 Dec 1760) & Mary Pickles (15608) (May 1688-30 Nov 1711), in the Second Church of Scituate.116,85 Born on 21 Nov 1711 in Scituate, MA.116 Joseph died in Scituate, MA, on 2 Jan 1767; he was 55.116 Buried in South Parish Cem., Norwell. Education: Harvard 1731.48

Joseph graduated from Harvard College, for which he was prepared by his neighbor, Rev. Nathaniel Eells.7

Joseph was long employed as grammar master in Scituate, and prepared his own sons and several others for College. He was a justice of the peace, and a deacon of the Second Church of Scituate.48

Joseph and Lydia resided at Henchman’s Corner.7
