Mary, also called Mercy, died a few days after the birth of her only child Joseph, Jr.
On 1 Jan 1710/1 Mary married Dea. Joseph Cushing (3952) , son of Col. John Cushing Esq. (1092) (ca 1627-31 Mar 1708) & Sarah Hawke (1388) (ca 1641-9 Mar 1678/9), in Scituate, MA.85 “Joseph Cushing and Mercy Pickles Were Married January 1st 1710-11 pr Mr Nathanaell Pitcher”. Born on 23 Sep 1677 in Scituate, MA.48 At the age of <1, Joseph was baptized in the Second Church of Scituate, on 12 May 1678.193 Joseph died in Scituate, MA, on 12 Dec 1760; he was 83.116 Buried in South Parish Cem., Norwell.
Joseph purchased in 1707 from Phillip Turner a tract of land at Henchman’s Corner in the South Parish of Scituate, upon which the house of the late Dr. Heyward Warren Cushing stands (1936). Hoseph built a house upon this tract when he married, and a corner stone of this first house is imbedded in the lawn on Dr. Cushing’s estate. The original house was enlarged by his son, Deacon Joseph, Jr., and later it formed the ell of a large house built by the latter’s son George.7
After Joseph’s wife, Mercy, died, he did not remarry, and his wife’s sister, Alice Pickles was the foster-mother of young Joseph. Joseph was a Deacon of the Second Church, a Justice of the Peace, active in the community and greatly respected.7

On 30 Aug 1739 Alice married Joseph Benson, son of Joseph Benson (ca 1640-2 Jan 1706) & Sarah [Benson] (-1689), in the Second Church of Scituate.116 Born on 18 Mar 1684 in Hull, MA.194 Joseph died in Scituate, MA, on 30 Apr 1753; he was 69.116 Buried in Scituate, MA GR14. 116
Joseph Benson first married Rebecca Prince, second Mary Curtis, and third Alice Pickles.

Nathan succeeded his father. Having no family, he left his estate to the three sons of his sister, Mercy, wife of Dea. Joseph Cushing, viz. Judge Nathan Cushing, Pickels Cushing, and Hawkes Cushing.6
On 13 Mar 1731/2 Nathan married Margaret Stetson (19057) , daughter of Thomas Stetson (7608) (11 Dec 1644-2 Jul 1729) & Sarah Dodson (8559) (26 Aug 1652-bef 1729), in the Second Church of Scituate.116,85 Born on 4 Aug 1698 in Scituate, MA.116
They had no children.
