16017. Johannis Van Tassel. Born on 4 Mar 1696.340 At the age of <1, Johannis was baptized in New York Reformed Church, on 22 Apr 1696.188 Johannes, son of Cornelis Janszen & Annetje Storms, witnesses Arent Fredricxcen & his wife Hester Nathaniels.

On 21 Nov 1724 when Johannis was 28, he married Catherina Buys, daughter of Pieter Ariense Buys (12 Dec 1679-ca 1742) & Geertie Hopper (ca Dec 1682-), in Sleepy Hollow Reformed Church.181 “Johannis Van Tessel, j.m., b. on the Minnaer [Manor] of Cortlant and Treintie Buys, j.d., of Achquakenonck [Passaic, NJ] both l. in Phillips Burgh. Born in Acquakanock, Passaic, NY.

Johannis and Annatie were witnesses the the 1738 baptism of their neice Annatie, daughter of Hendreck & Belytie Van Thexel. Also, the 1738 baptism of their nephew Johannis, son of Marten & Esther Crancheyt.

16018. Maria Van Tassel. Born on 16 Dec 1698[7] in Cortland, Westchester Co., NY.340 At the age of <1, Maria was baptized in Sleepy Hollow Reformed Church, on 2 Sep 1698.181 Maria, daughter of Cornelis Van Texel & wife Antje, witnesses: Dirck Storm & wife Maria [grandparents].

Frans and Maritie were witnesses at the 1751 baptism of Marytie, daughter of Jacobus Van Tessel (Maritie’s half brother).

On 3 Jun 1727 when Maria was 29, she married Frans Depew, son of William Depew (Aug 1663-1706) & Elizabeth Weyt, in Sleepy Hollow Reformed Church.181 “Frans de Peu, j.m., b. and l. on the Mennaer of Cortlant, and Maritie Van Thessel, j.d., b. on the Mennaer of Cortlant, and l. in Phillips Burgh”. Born in 1700 in Cortland, Westchester Co., NY. Frans was baptized in Sleepy Hollow Reformed Church, on 20 Aug 1700.181 Francoys, son of Willem de Puw & Lisabeth his wife, witnesses Jan Van Texel & Catrina Van Texel.

16019. Dirck Van Tassel. Born on 25 Dec 1699 in Philipsburgh, Westchester Co., NY.340 At the age of <1, Dirck was baptized in Sleepy Hollow Reformed Church, on 24 Apr 1699.181 Dirck, son of Cornelis Van Texel & wife Antje, witnesses: Jacob Sie & wife Catharena [Storm, aunt]. A second entry for the same baptism occurs on 20 Aug 1700 with the cryptic annotation “After finding the truth, so is the son baptized”.

Dirck and Christina were admitted members of the Sleepy Hollow Reformed Church on 5 Sep 1724.181
He was Deacon from 1743 to 1745. They lived in the Saw Mill River valley near Elmsford, Westchester Co.208
“Derrick Van Tessel” was on the 1760 Philipsburg Manor rent roll.310

On 9 Feb 1723 when Dirck was 23, he married Christina Buys, daughter of Pieter Ariense Buys (12 Dec 1679-ca 1742) & Geertie Hopper (ca Dec 1682-).208 Born ca 1703 in Acquakanock, Passaic, NJ.208

Derck and Crestena were witnesses at several baptisms:
    1726 for Abraham Ecker, son of Aentie Van Thessel
    1740 for Geertie, daughter of Hendreck Van Thexel & his wife Beelitie (Crestena’s sister);
    1741 for Willem, son of Joannis Duyster and his wife Meyno (Crestena’s sister);
    1752 for their grandson Jacob, son of Adrianus Van Wormen & Aentie Van Tessel.

16020. Antje Van Tassel. Born on 7 Nov 1702[1?] in Philipsburgh, Westchester Co., NY.340 Antje was baptized in Sleepy Hollow Reformed Church, in 1702.181 Antje, daughter of Cornelis Van Texel & Antje his wife, Barent d’Widtt & wife Sara [Van Texel, aunt].

Antie was a witness, along with her brother Hendreck, for the 1728 baptism of their nephew, Henderickus, son of Frans & Maritie de Piu.

On 13 Aug 1726 at Sleeply Hollow, there was a baptism of Abraham Ecker, son of Aentie Van Thessel, witnesses Derck Van Thessesl & Crestena his wife. Was that this Antje’s son?

Antje married Elyas Tunnis Cranckheyt (18100) , son of Theunnis Herrickse Cranckheyt (7040) (ca Jul 1655-fall 1709) & Sophia Hendricksen Wiltse (8584) (ca Dec 1660-aft 4 Dec 1725).

Elyas and Antie were members of the Old Dutch Church at Sleepy Hollow in 1734.208

16021. Hendrick Van Tassel. Born ca Mar 1704 in Philipsburgh, Westchester Co., NY. Hendrick was baptized in Sleepy Hollow Reformed Church, on 10 Mar 1704.181 No baptismal witnesses listed.

Hendrick and Mettie lived on the manor of Cortlandt, but later moved to Fishkill, Dutchess Co., NY where they both joined the Reform Church. Hendrick was a church officer and his name appears on a list of Freeholders in 1740. He owned land and left a will that was not probated but refers to subsequent deeds by his sons.208

Hendrick Van Tessel was on the taxpayer list of Fishkill and Rombout for 1733-1748, 1753-1763, 1765-1775, and 1777-1779.357

Hendreck was a witness, along with his sister Antie, for the 1728 baptism of their nephew, Henderickus, son of Frans & Maritie de Piu.

On 7 Aug 1731 Hendrick married Metje Cranckheyt (18108) , daughter of Jan Herrikz Cranckheyt (7041) (ca Nov 1657-aft 1720) & Grietje Jans De Vries Van Wicklen (ca 1665-aft 1720), in Sleepy Hollow Reformed Church.181 “Hendreck Van Texel, j.m., b. and l. in Phillips Burgh, and Mettie Crancheyt, j.d., b. and l. on the Mennaer of Cortlant”. Born in 1705 in Ryck’s Patent, Westchester, NY. Metje was baptized in Sleepy Hollow Reformed Church, on 4 Jun 1705.181 Neyritje, daughter of Jan Krankheyt & wife Grietje, witnesses Theunis Krankheyt [Jan’s brother] & Mettje Wickelen [Grietje’s sister].

Born on 7 Dec 1706[5] in Philipsburgh, Westchester Co., NY.340 At the age of <1, Hester was baptized in Sleepy Hollow Reformed Church, on 25 Apr 1706.181 Aeltje and her sister Hester were baptized on the same day with the same witnesses, Ester [Sie] Storm [aunt] & Aeltje [Storm] Van Texel [aunt].

Hester and her brother Abraham were witnesses at the 1733 baptism of Catharina, daughter of Joannis & Catharina Van Texel. Also, both were witnesses at the 1734 baptism of Eliezabeth, daughter of Frans & Maritie de Peuw.

Marthen and Esther were witnesses at the 1744 baptism of the great nephew Jacob, son of David & Janitie Fosuur (Janitie was Martin’s neice).

ca 1724 Hester married Martin Cranckheyt (18103) , son of Theunnis Herrickse Cranckheyt (7040) (ca Jul 1655-fall 1709) & Sophia Hendricksen Wiltse (8584) (ca Dec 1660-aft 4 Dec 1725). Born ca 1701 in Ryck’s Patent, Westchester, NY.232

Martin and Hester lived at Philipsburgh, Westchester Co.208

Martin was a witness at the 1722 baptism of his nephew Theunis, son of Jan Krankheyt & Jannetje Hooms. Also the 1724 baptism of his niece Zara, daughter of Cornelis & Wyntie Van Texel.
