Born on 19 May 1714 in Philipsburgh, Westchester Co., NY.340 Aberhaem was born at four o’clock p.m. At the age of <1, Abraham was baptized in Sleepy Hollow Reformed Church, on 25 May 1714.181 Abraham, son of Cornelis & Weynt Van Texel, witnesses Jan Herrikz Krankhz [Crankheyt, great uncle] & wife Grietje.

Abraham and his sister Hester were witnesses at the 1733 baptism of Catharina, daughter of Joannis & Catharina Van Texel. Also, both were witnesses at the 1734 baptism of Eliezabeth, daughter of Frans & Maritie de Peuw.

Abraham married Cornelia Delamater, daughter of Isaac Delamater (ca 1693-ca 1760) & Belitje Waldron (6 Apr 1690-).

Abraham and Cornelia were members of the Old Dutch Church at Sleepy Hollow and lived at Elmsford, Westchester Co.208 They were witnesses at several baptisms:
    1749 for their neice Beletye, daughter of Barent de Lameter (Cornelia’s brother);
    1752 for their nephew Abraham, son of Jan Cankling and Weyntie Van Tassel;
    1761 for their granddaughter Cornelya, daughter of Isaac Davids & Wintie [Van Tessel].

16025. Jacob Van Tassel. Born on 11 Dec 1716[5] in Philipsburgh, Westchester Co., NY.340 At the age of <1, Jacob was baptized in Sleepy Hollow Reformed Church, on 8 Apr 1716.181 Jacobus, son of Cornelis Van Texel “the son” & wife Weyntje, witnesss Hendrick Krankhz [Weyntje’s brother] & wife Antje. Jacob died bef Jul 1720.

16026. Wyntie Van Tassel. Born on 12 Jun 1717 in Philipsburgh, Westchester Co., NY.340 At the age of <1, Wyntie was baptized in Sleepy Hollow Reformed Church, on 18 Jul 1717.181 Wyntie, daughter of Cornelis & Wyntie, witnesses Joannis Van Texel [Cornelis’s brother] & wife Caharina.

On 17 Apr 1742 when Wyntie was 24, she married Jan Conklin (19992) , son of Elias Conklin (ca 1693-ca 1739) & Cristina Ecker (8173) (ca 1697-), in Sleepy Hollow Reformed Church.181 “Jan Canckelie, j.m., and Weyntie Van Thexel, j.d. Both b. and l. in Philips Burgh”. Born on 12 Jun 1718 in Philipsburgh, Westchester Co., NY.340 Wintie was born at ten o’clock. At the age of <1, Jan was baptized in Sleepy Hollow Reformed Church, on 28 Oct 1718.181 Jan Canckly, son of Elyas and Crestena Canckly, witnesses: Jan Ecker & wife Magdaleentje [grandparents]. Jan died in 1796 in Livingston, Columbia Co., NY.232

Jan and Weyntie both born and lived in Philips Burgh.181

“John Concklin” was on the 1760 Philipsburg Manor rent roll.310 They resided at Philipsburgh until the 1770s when the whole family moved to Livingston, Columbia Co.232

16027. Catrina Van Tassel. Born on 13 Oct 1718 in Philipsburgh, Westchester Co., NY.340 At the age of <1, Catrina was baptized in Sleepy Hollow Reformed Church, on 21 Apr 1719.181 Catrina, daughter of Cornelis & Wyntie Van Texel, witnesses Gerrit Van Weert & wife Catharina.

(Did Catrina actually marry at age 15?)

Jan and Catrina were witnesses at several baptisms:
    1747 for their neice Weyntye, daughter of Jan Cancklingh and Weyntie Van Tassel;
    1748 baptism of their neice Catrina, daughter of Abraham Van Tessel (Catrina’s brother);
    1755 baptism of their nephew Jan, son of Jan Cankling and Weyntie Van Tassel.

On 18 May 1734 when Catrina was 15, she married Jan Hammond, son of William Hammond (ca 1690-) & Maritje Walgraf (10 Jun 1688-), in Sleepy Hollow Reformed Church.181 “Jan Hemmen, j.m., b. on Nieuw Jorck, and Catharina Van Texel, j.d., b. in Philips Burgh. Both l. here”. Born in 1711 in New York.208 Jan died in 1788.208

16028. Jacob Van Tassel. Born on 13 Jul 1720 in Philipsburgh, Westchester Co., NY.340 At the age of <1, Jacob was baptized in Sleepy Hollow Reformed Church, on 31 Aug 1720.181 Jacob, son of Cornelis and Wyntie Van Texel, witnesses Steven Ecker & Annatie Storm [Cornelis’s neice by his first wife]. Jacob died bet 1815 and 1821.

Jacob (James or Jacobus) Van Tassel. Jacob enlisted in the French War on 20 Apr 1758 in Capt. Jonatahan Fowler’s Weschester Company. He was 5’6” tall with blue eyes and a round face. Jacob resided in Salina. His will was dated 25 Mar 1815, probated 27 Aug 1821, his wife Eliziabeth was named executor, with witnesses Daniel Gilbert, John Q. Mang, and Christian Alsenbintze.208

Jacobus and his sister Zara were witnesses at the 1738 baptism of their neice Zara, daughter of Frans & Maritie (Van Tassel) de Peu.

On 16 Jul 1743 when Jacob was 23, he married Elizabeth Foshay (13343) , daughter of Matthis Foshay (4502) (ca 1697-aft 1756) & Magdelena Ecker (8174) (1706-), in Sleepy Hollow Reformed Church.181 “Jacobus Van Thexel, j.m., and Eliezabeth Fosuur, j.d. Both b. and l. in Philips Burgh”. Born ca 1726 in Philipsburgh, Westchester Co., NY.

16029. Thunnis Van Tassel. Born in 1722 in Philipsburgh, Westchester Co., NY. Thunnis was baptized in Sleepy Hollow Reformed Church, on 24 Apr 1722.181 Thunnis, son of Cornelis Van Tesel & Wyntie his wife, witnesses Hendreck Crancheyt [Cornelis’s brother] & Antie his wife.

Thunnis moved to New York City in 1750, made a freeman there 1751. He purchased city lots and remained in NYC until the start of the Revolutionary War when he moved back to Cambridge.208

Tunis and his sister Sara were witnesses at the 1746 baptism of their nephew Jan, son of Jan Hemmen (and Catrina Van Tessel).

On 15 Nov 1746 Thunnis married Sophia Jacobse in Sleepy Hollow Reformed Church.181 “Tunis Van Tessel, j.m., b. and l. in Philips Burgh, and Sofia Jacobse, widow of Jacob Fosuer, b. in West Farms, and l. at Nieuw Haerlem”. Born in West Farms.181

Sophia first married Jacob Foshay, second Theunnis Van Tassel.

16030. Sara Van Tassel. Born in 1724 in Philipsburgh, Westchester Co., NY. Sara was baptized in Sleepy Hollow Reformed Church, on 25 Apr 1724.181 Zara, daughter of Cornelis & Wyntie Van Texel, witnesses Marthen Crancheyt [uncle] & Maritie Van Texel.

Zara and her brother Jacobus were witnesses at the 1738 baptism of their neice Zara, daughter of Frans & Maritie (Van Tassel) de Peu.

Sara and her brother Tunis were witnesses at the 1746 baptism of their nephew Jan, son of Jan Hemmen (and Catrina Van Tessel).

Johannis and Sara were witnesses at the 1749 baptism of Sara, daughter of Jacobus Van Tessel (Sara’s brother).

On 23 Apr 1747 Sara first married Johannis Gardenier (13662) , son of Jacob Albertse Gardenier (4710) (ca 1683-) & Sara Joachimze Van Wert (19016) (1686-), in Sleepy Hollow Reformed Church.181 “Johannis Gardenier, j.m., and Sara Van Tessel, j.d. Both b. and l. in Phillipsburgh”. Born in 1724 in Philipsburgh, Westchester Co., NY. Johannis was baptized in Sleepy Hollow Reformed Church, on 5 Sep 1724.181 Johannis, son of Jacob Gardenier & Zara his wife, witnesses Jan Ecker [Zara’s half-brother] & Magdalentie his wife. Johannis died bef 1755.
