He served as town clerk of New London from 1701 to 1706; as an assistant to the Governor, 1699, 1703 and 1722; Commissioner for the County of New London to the General Assembly, 1690-1697; Commissary of the Court of New London, 1690-1693; Justice of the Peace, 1701-1702; Deputy to the General Assembly representing New London, 1691 and 1693; Judge of the County Court of New London, 1709-1716, 1720, 1721; Judge of the Superior Court of the Connecticut Colony, 1711-1721, and was a member of the Court of Governor and Council.”135
