Samuel practised medicine in the Hamden section of New Haven for many years. His will, dated 5 July 1780, proved Sep 1782, mentions wife Esther; sons Daniel and Solomon; daughters Sarah Warner, Deborah, Hannah, Philonela, Martha, and Rachel; daughter-in-law Elizabeth Wooding; three grandchildren, Abner, Elizabeth and Damaris. Executors, Samuel Cooper, Jr., and son Daniei Wooding.139

On 20 Nov 1746 when Samuel was 23, he first married Sarah Gilbert (22398) , daughter of Daniel Gilbert (15 Nov 1697-1753) & Sarah Todd (10301) (2 Nov 1698-), in New Haven, CT.74 Born on 29 Jul 1727 in New Haven, CT.74

    ii. Silas Wooding, killed on the same day as Samuel by the British;
    iii. Sarah Wooding, b. ca. 1752, d. 31 Oct 1828 at Hamden, m. at New Haven 30 Dec 1777 David Warner (bp. 20 May 1752 at New Haven, d. 24 Nov 1808 at Hamden);
    iv. Daniel Wooding, b. ca. 1759, d. 13 Oct 1814 at Hamden, m. 1st at New Haven 3 Jan 1785 Amy Cooper (d. 1793 at Hamden), m. 2nd at New Haven 29 mar 1796 Kezia Joslin (d. 6 May 1836 at Hamden); and
    v. Deborah Wooding, b. ca. 1766, d. 31 Aug 1798 at Hamden.139
