John succeeded to the James homestead near the ‘block-house’ at the bend of North River (the elbow). He was deacon of the Second Church.7

On 18 Mar 1700 when John was 23, he first married Eunice Stetson (5130) , daughter of Capt. Benjamin Stetson (7607) (Aug 1641-4 May 1711) & Bethia Hawke (1389) (ca 1643-), in Scituate, MA.116 Born in Mar 1683/4 in Scituate, MA.116 Eunice was baptized in the Second Church of Scituate, on 27 May 1683.116 Eunice died on 29 Aug 1717 in Scituate, MA.116 Buried in Scituate, MA GR13.
