Leah was born in the old Briggs house north of Stockbridge Mill Pond at Greenbush.7

On 23 Feb 1743 when Leah was 22, she married Josiah Damon (27127) , son of Ichabod Damon (15239) (8 Apr 1668-ca 1730) & Sarah Litchfield (25 Sep 1674-ca 1739), in First Parish Church, Scituate.116,85 Born on 20 Dec 1714 in Scituate, MA.116 Josiah died in 1787 in Scituate, MA.215

22302. Capt. Benjamin Briggs. Born on 18 Oct 1722 in Scituate, MA.116 Occupation: mariner.

Benjamin resided in Scituate until after the Revolution, and in later years removed to Cohasset. He was a Revolutionary soldier, with service as follows: ‘Benjamin Briggs, Scituate, Private, Capt. Joseph Stetson’s co. Col. Dike’s regt’;return of men in service from Dec. 12, 1776 to March 1, 1777; also same co. and regt.; list of men entitled to gen and blanket money, date Boston, Feb. 24, 1777.’ (Massachusetts Soldiers and Sailors, Vol. II, p. 499).7

On 1 Aug 1758 when Benjamin was 35, he married Rebecca Curtis (11910) , daughter of Benjamin Curtis (3837) (2 May 1699-20 Jun 1771) & Rebecca House (30119) (2 Apr 1700-29 Jun 1780), in Scituate, MA.116 Born on 17 Aug 1730 in Scituate, MA.116

Children of Benjamin and Rebecca (Curtis) Briggs, born in Scituate: Benjamin 1760, Charles 1762, Paul 1765, and Rebecca 1769.116

22303. Deborah Briggs. Born on 1 Jun 1724 in Scituate, MA.116 Deborah died in Scituate, MA, on 16 Feb 1817; she was 92.116 Buried in Union Street Cem., Scituate Centre.

On 12 Mar 1746 when Deborah was 21, she married Capt. Thomas Mann (25225) , son of Thomas Mann (13012) (5 Apr 1681-) & Deborah Joy (24 Jan 1685/6-), in First Parish Church, Scituate.116 Born on 26 Nov 1717 in Scituate, MA.116 Thomas died in 1795 in Scituate, MA.116 Buried in Union Cem., Scituate Harbor. 116

Thomas, a Revolutionary soldier. He resided on Greenfield Lane.7

22305. James Briggs. Born on 16 Nov 1735 in Greenbush, Scituate, MA.116 James died in Scituate, MA, on 2 Oct 1833; he was 97.116 Buried in Union St. Cem., Scituate Harbor.

James “was known as ‘clark Briggs,’ having been Town Clerk of Scituate from 1779 to 1803 and again in 1806 and 1807. He resided in the homestead. This house, reached by a lane leading from Old Oaken Bucket Road, and since the completion of the new state highway on Route 3A, called ‘Judge Cushing Road,’ is but a short distance form the new way. It is still [1937] spoken of as ‘the old Briggs place.’”7

On 17 Jul 1764 when James was 28, he married Rhoda Nash (22332) , daughter of Joseph Nash (10154) (28 Jan 1702-1764) & Deborah Merritt (22714) (14 Apr 1711-), in First Parish Church, Scituate.116 Born on 14 Feb 1742 in Scituate, MA.116 Rhoda died in Scituate, MA, on 23 Feb 1807; she was 65.7
