22873. Dr. Charles Phelps. Born on 22 Sep 1732 in Hebron, CT.286 Charles died in Stonington, CT, on 17 Aug 1808; he was 75.

Charles studied medicine and settled in Stonington, CT, where he practiced medicine for many years. He was the Justice of the Peace, Jude of Probate, and prominently connected with the church. At that time money was raised in the churches by lottery The following is a copy of one of the tickets issued by him: “Stonington-Point Meeting House Lottery. This ticket shall entitle the bearer to such Prize as may be drawn against its number, subject to a deduc tion of Eight per Cent. Stonington July 20, 1793. [Signed] Chs. Phelps.”229

On 10 Nov 1757 when Charles was 25, he first married Hannah Denison, daughter of William Denison (ca 1705-29 Jan 1760) & Hannah Burrows (23 Jan 1708/9-5 Jan 1736/7), in Hebron, CT.229 Born on 25 Dec 1736 in North Stonington, CT. Hannah died in Stonington, CT, on 10 Sep 1797; she was 60.229

On 14 Feb 1798 when Charles was 65, he second married Sally Swan, daughter of Thomas Swan (18 Mar 1741/2-27 Dec 1830) & Amy Denison (22 Mar 1741/2-23 Mar 1829).229 Born on 5 Oct 1772 in Stonington, CT.229 Sally died in Stonington, CT, on 10 Sep 1841; she was 68.229

On 30 Mar 1758 when Lydia was 19, she married Job Stiles, son of Job Stiles (12 Jul 1715-Mar 1797) & Anna Bliss (1 Mar 1717-1782), in Colchester, CT. Born ca 1738 in Hebron, CT.

22876. Bethuel Phelps. Born on 25 Apr 1744 in Hebron, CT.229 Bethuel died in Warehouse Point, Windsor, CT, on 11 Aug 1832; he was 88. Occupation: farmer.

Bethuel first settled in Hebron. About 1780 he removed to Tolland, and later in life to Warehouse Point.229

On 13 Mar 1778 when Bethuel was 33, he married Caroline Lord (32448) , daughter of Epaphras Lord (26 Dec 1709-25 Nov 1799) & Lucy Bulkeley (22791) (29 Jan 1719/20-10 May 1800), in Hebron, CT.139 Born on 2 Mar 1758 in Colchester, CT.139 Caroline died in Warehouse Point, Windsor, CT, on 20 Dec 1819; she was 61.229

Epaphras Lord Phelps, b. 16 May 1783 at Tolland, d. 28 Jun 1868, m. 1st 1810 Elizabeth Holkins (b. 12 Feb 1791 at Warehouse Point, d. there 27 Oct 1827), m. 2nd 2 Dec 1833 Clarissa (Porter) Sparhawk (b. 21 Jun 1791 at Windsor, CT, d. 22 Mar 1855 at East Windsor, widow of Dr. Jonathan Sparhawk), resided at Hebron, Warehouse Point, and East Windsor;
    iii. Charles Stiles Phelps, b. 12 Mar 1789 at Tolland, d. 8 Feb 1870 at Brooklyn, NY, Rev., m. 1st at Longmeadow, MA, Aug 1819 Flavia Burt (d. 1820), m. 2nd 1822 Harriett Stebbins Morgan (b. 25 Jun 1801 at Pittsfield, MA, d. Apr 1827 at Hartford, CT), m. 3rd 1838 Catherine Warren (d. 1852), m. 4th 1853 Elizabeth Saxton Newcomb (d. ca. 1888/9), resided at Warehouse Point, Hartford, Oswego, NY, and in 1860 went to Brooklyn.139

22877. Timothy Phelps. Born on 29 May 1745 in Hebron, CT.286 Timothy died in Marlborough, CT, on 13 Sep 1804; he was 59.229 Occupation: farmer.

Timothy settled in Marlborough, adjoining Hebron. He served in the Revolutionary War in the Lexington Alarm twenty-one days.229

On 28 Dec 1766 when Timothy was 21, he married Sarah Skinner.229 Born on 1 Sep 1743.229 Sarah died in Marlborough, CT, on 24 Sep 1829; she was 86.229
