On 11 Sep 1765 when Abigail was 38, she second married Benjamin Cushing (12054) , son of Hon. John Cushing (3942) (28 Apr 1662-19 Jan 1738) & Deborah Loring (6143) (15 Mar 1668-9 Jun 1713).48 Born on 17 Apr 1706 in Scituate, MA.116 Benjamin died in Providence, RI, on 4 Jun 1786; he was 80.48

Benjamin moved early to Providence, RI. Freeman of the Colony of RI 1737; justice of the peace 1747. “By papers left by him it appears that he was well established in business as early as 1741, as a furrier and hatter. Among these papers are found also, letters and bills from the Hon. Philip Livingstone and others, showing that he had an extensive correspondence in relation to the fur business. From the year 1750 to the commencement of the Revolution, he was engaged in sending furs to England. Some time previous to and during the Revolution, he, with two others, owned a vessel which they chartered to parties as a coaster. It made several trips to Nantucket.”48
