Joseph was captured by French and Indians at Deerfield 29 Feb 1704 and taken to Canada. He learned the Indian language and on his return from captivity was often employed as an interpreter.295
On 10 Mar 1719 when Joseph was 27, he married Rachel Devotion (24235) , daughter of John Devotion (11972) (ca 1659-25 Oct 1732) & Hannah Pond (27 Jul 1660-1698), in Suffield, CT. Born ca 1696 in Roxbury, MA.

Joanna was captured with her brothers. She through choice remained among the Indians, marrying an Indian chief. She died leaving children.295
24618. Rebecca Kellogg. Born on 22 Dec 1695 in Deerfield, MA.295 Rebecca died in 1757 in Windsor, Broome Co., NY.
Rebecca was captured along with her older siblings. She learned the Indian language and acted as interpreter for missionaries. She died at Onohogwage on a mission to the Susquehanna Indians.
On 13 Mar 1744/5 when Rebecca was 49, she married Capt. Benjamin Ashley, son of Jonathan Ashley (21 Jun 1678-18 Sep 1749) & Abigail Stebbins (13 Aug 1683-6 Apr 1752), in Suffield, CT. Born on 9 Feb 1714/5 in Westfield, MA. Benjamin died aft 1757.

Jonathan was slain by Indians at the age of 4.
