25755. Nathaniel Otis. Born on 30 Jan 1689/90 in Marshfield, MA.20,116 Nathaniel died in Colchester, CT, on 15 Apr 1771; he was 81.

Nathaniel and Hannah moved from Scituate to New London County, CT, where they were received to the communion of the church 19 Nov 1722. He was appointed on a committee 7 Jan 1721 to act in the ‘prudential affairs’ of the parish, and was chosed clerk of the parish 31 Jan 1722, and also for the two following years. In 1724 he removed about eitht miles north of the old county road, to the town of Colchester, on land which hsi father purchased of Capt. Samuel Gilbert. On this land Nathaniel erected a house which has been the residence of five successive generations. On 29 May 1756 he received a commission signed by Gov. Talcott, appointing him ‘Cornet of the troop in the County of Hartford.’ He also held numerous offices in the town.223

Nathaniel married Hannah Thatcher (27162) , daughter of Col. John Thatcher (17 Mar 1637/8-8 Mar 1713) & Lydia Gorham (15253) (16 Nov 1661-2 Aug 1744). Born on 9 Oct 1690 in Yarmouth, MA. Hannah died in Colchester, CT, on 6 May 1780; she was 89.223

Hannah, daughter of Col. John Thatcher of Yarmouth. She was one of 18 children.223

25756. James Otis. Born on 21 Jan 1692/3 in Marshfield, MA.20,116 James died in Saybrook, CT, on 6 Sep 1754; he was 61.223 Occupation: husbandman.223

From A Memoir of the Otis Family:223
    “Mr. Otis united with the church at Montville, Conn., April 14, 1723. His name first appears on the Montville records Jan. 29, 1721, about which time he came with his father and family from Scituate. He was a ‘husbandman’; also constable, surveyer of lands, and much in church and town business.”

In Jun 1728 James married Sarah Tudor.223 Born in 1696/1697. Sarah died on 15 Feb 1788 in Colchester, CT.223

Sarah, daughter of Col. Tudor of New York. Her parents returned to England on account of the war.223

David and Deborah were second cousins. His maternal grandmother and her paternal grandfather were siblings.

ca 1712/3 Deborah married David Clap (23351) , son of Samuel Clap (11073) (ca 1638/1642-18 Mar 1733) & Hannah Gill (17143) (10 Nov 1645-27 Feb 1722). Born in Nov 1684 in Scituate, MA.116

“Some of David’s sons, Noah and perhaps others, went to Norton. Galen of Scituate was his grandson, son of David, jr.”6

On 25 Nov 1727 when Dorothy was 29, she first married Patrick McLaren, son of John McLaren (30 Jul 1667-11 Jul 1734) & Eupham Park.223 Born in Kippen, Perth, Scotland. Patrick died on 9 Dec 1731.

ca 1753 Dorothy third married John Bissell, son of John Bissell (5 Apr 1659-) & Abigail Filley (21 Aug 1658-8 Jan 1706/7). Born ca 1683 in Windsor, CT. John died on 8 Mar 1771 in Bolton, CT.

25760. Elizabeth Otis. Born on 2 Sep 1700 in Scituate, MA.116 Elizabeth died bef 1754.223

On 2 Mar 1719/20 when Elizabeth was 19, she married Luke Lincoln (16207) , son of Caleb Lincoln (6031) (ca 1645-9 Dec 1715) & Rachel Bates (6 Sep 1659-10 Nov 1696), in the Second Church of Scituate.116 Born on 27 Mar 1695 in Hingham, MA.33 Luke died in Leicester, MA, on 29 Feb 1770; he was 74.

Luke removed to Scituate, and then to Leicester, MA.33

One of the 13 children, Loring Lincoln, was in the battle of Bunker Hill.82

On 2 Mar 1719 when Anne was 16, she married Robert Clelland.223 Robert died ca 1782.

On 4 Jul 1734 when Bethiah was 30, she second married Rev. Samuel Moseley, son of Ebenezer Moseley (4 Sep 1673-19 Sep 1740) & Hannah Weeks (28 Feb 1678-27 Mar 1747).223 Born on 15 Aug 1708 in Dorchester, MA. Samuel died in Hampton, CT, on 26 Jul 1791; he was 82.

Samuel was ordained 15 May 1734 of the Second Church at Windham.

25763. Delight Otis. Born on 19 Dec 1706 in Scituate, MA.116 Delight died in Norwich, CT, on 15 Oct 1747; she was 40.

On 3 May 1734 when Delight was 27, she married Jabez Lathrop, son of Israel Lathrop (Oct 1659-28 Mar 1733) & Rebecca Bliss (18 Mar 1663-22 Aug 1737), in Norwich, CT.223 Born on 11 Jan 1706/7 in Norwich, CT. Jabez died in Norwich, CT, on 11 Feb 1796; he was 89.

25764. Hannah Otis. Born on 10 Dec 1709 in Scituate, MA.116 Hannah died in 1725/1726.

25765. Dea. Joseph Otis. Born on 1 Oct 1712 in Scituate, MA.116 At the age of 1, Joseph was baptized in First Parish Church, Scituate, on 13 Jun 1714.116 Joseph died ca 1793 in Richmond, MA.223

Joseph moved to Richmond, MA. “He was noted for going to sleep in his wagon and other places. He sometimes fell asleep while smoking; so often breaking his pipe in this way that he procured one made of iron. It was told of him by Dr. Watson of Colchester that when at church one Sunday, the sermon happening to be longer than usual, he took out a doughnut, and while in the act of biting it, fell asleep. His head fell back with the cake protruding from his mouth, and he was an object of great merriment.”223
