26302. Josiah Torrey. Born on 28 Jan 1658 in Scituate, MA.116 Josiah died in 1722.

From Deane’s History of Scituate:6
    “Josiah had a considerable tract of land contiguous to Herringbrook hill on the north. His house was in the valley one fourth mile north of the South Meeting-house, opposite to the present [1831] house of Jr. James N. Sparrell. He unfortunately lost his life, A.D. 1693 [Deane must have the date wrong]. He was in the act of tying the Town’s stock of powder on the roof of his house, when a spark from the chimney falling, his life was instantly lost, and his house laid to ruins.”

26305. Bethia Torrey. Born on 19 Jul 1665 in Scituate, MA.116 Bethia died in Scituate, MA, on 11 Sep 1735; she was 70.

Bethia married Robert Woodward. Born ca 1657 in Boston, MA. Robert died ca 1744 in Scituate, MA.

Robert settled in the west part of town, east of Symon’s hill.2
