On 10 Jan 1750 when Elizabeth was 13, she married Lieut. Joseph Bancroft (35181) , son of Thomas Bancroft (29120) (8 Apr 1696-16 Nov 1793) & Lydia Emery (29 Apr 1698-).²³⁸ Born on 10 Nov 1735 in Reading, MA.²⁷² Joseph died in Reading, MA, on 18 Feb 1825; he was 89.²⁷² Occupation: shoe manufacturer.

Joseph was a soldier in the Revolution. His record, given in Massachusetts Soldiers and Sailors of the Revolutionar War, pp. 564-565, read: ‘Sergeant, Capt. Thomas Eaton’s co., Col. Green’s regt., which marched on the alram of April 19, 1775; service, 12 days; reported as belonging to train band; also, 2nd Lieutenant; Capt. James Bancroft’s (4th) co., 2d Middlesex Co. regt.; list of officers of Mass. militia; commissioned Aug. 20, 1777.’²⁷²

John Temple was a corporal in Capt. Thomas Eaton's company in the Revolutionary war.

In Nov 1761 John first married Hannah Nichols (21569) , daughter of Jonathan Nichols (17015) (5 Nov 1717-Oct 1754) & Hannah Damon (9364) (25 Apr 1720-Sep 1754), in First Congregational Church of Reading (now Wakefield).^14,383 Born on 10 Mar 1742 in Reading, MA.¹⁴ Hannah died in Reading, MA, on 19 Feb 1796; she was 53.¹⁴ Buried in Laurel Hill Cem., Reading.
