On 18 Dec 1785 when Lydia was 24, she married Samuel Phelps (28611) , son of Timothy Phelps (22846) (29 Jun 1718-) & Hannah Northam (17071) (29 May 1724-), in Hebron, CT.286 Born on 22 Apr 1759 in Hebron, CT.286 Samuel died in Fenner, Madison Co., NY, on 15 Oct 1826; he was 67.

Samuel and Lydia removed to Fenner, Madison Co, NY. Samuel and his brother Timothy enlisted in the Revolutionary War in Sullivan’s Division and was with Washington when he evacuated New York City. He was quite sick at that time with a fever, but not wishing to remain he was helped by Thomas to ride on a horse and so leave with the troop rather than take his chances of remaining behind.229
