On 20 Mar 1717/8 when Joseph was 27, he married Elizabeth Trowbridge, daughter of Thomas Trowbridge (14 Feb 1663/4-15 Sep 1711) & Mary Winston (24 Jun 1667-), in New Haven, CT.74 Born on 29 Mar 1693 in New Haven, CT.74 Elizabeth died in New Haven, CT, on 23 Jan 1783; she was 89.30
