William was a shipwright, and after 1805 built vessels in Hanover in company with Calvin Turner, Jr., who later went to Medford. He was spoken of as William Cushing, “gentleman,” and lived on Wahington St., North Pembroke, near the corner of Church St.7

31309. Elijah Briggs. Born on 17 Jul 1762 in Scituate, MA.116 Elijah died in Salem, MA, on 29 May 1847; he was 84.7 Occupation: shipbuilder.
After about seven years’ residence in Scituate, Elijah removed to Salem, and after the death of his cousin, Enos Briggs, he took of the latter’s shipyard at South Salem, and built several vesses there.7
On 17 Jan 1789 when Elijah was 26, he married Hannah Bufington, daughter of James Bufington (1740-1776) & Prudence Proctor (21 Nov 1740-), in Scituate, MA.116 Born on 30 Jan 1767 in Salem, MA.
