Henry was born with the Heinrich which was Anglicized to Henry. After his parents died on the voyage to America, Henry was bound out to Lawrence Stephens, his future father-in-law.

Henry settled in North Carolina’s District of Washington which later became Tennessee. He lived in that part which formed Greene County in 1783. The county wass ceded to the federal government in 1790. Tennessee was admitted as a state of the union in 1796.
Ca 1760 Henry married Mary Stephens, daughter of Lawrence Stephens (-18 Oct 1776) & Elizabeth. Born ca 1742 in Frederick County, Virginia. Mary died in Greene County, Tennessee on 6 Aug 1838.
