31806. Joseph Cummings. Born on 27 Dec 1745 in Ipswich, MA.47 Joseph died in Marlboro, NH, on 24 Sep 1788; he was 42.47 Education: Harvard 1768.

Joseph “taught school after leaving college and studied divinity in his native town. In July, 1778, being then of Saybrook, N. H., he bought for £150, 1OO acres of land in Dublin, N. H., which he afterward sold to his brother Amos. He came to Marlboro, N. H., in 1778, as a candidate, and having received a call to become pastor was ordained there Nov. 11th of the same year, the first pastor of the church. He was dismisred Dec. 26, 1780, under certain charges impugning his ministerial standing, which were sustained by a council. He then returned to Topsfield and soon after went to Ohio as land agent for a Massachusetts company. On his way home he was taken suddenly ill, and came to Marlboro to the house of his brother, Amos, where he died.”
On 5 Dec 1776 when Joseph was 30, he married Anna Gove (35907) , daughter of Jonathan Gove (2 May 1695-6 Aug 1761) & Hannah Wathen (30878) (14 Feb 1711-9 Dec 1801).47 Born on 2 Apr 1754 in Seabrook, NH. Anna died on 22 Jul 1792; she was 38.47

31808. Hannah Cummings. Born ca Jun 1751 in Ipswich, MA. Hannah was baptized in Ipswich, MA, on 30 Jun 1751.47 Hannah died on 4 Apr 1758 in Ipswich, MA.

31810. Jonathan Cummings. Born on 7 Oct 1755 in Ipswich, MA.47 At the age of <1, Jonathan was baptized on 9 Nov 1755. Jonathan died in Guildhall, VT, on 28 Feb 1846; he was 90.

Johnathan “was taken prisoner during the Ware of Independence and confined for some time in Jamaica, West Indies. ... His father left him land near Stone Bridge, in Ipswich, which he sold and removed to Topsfield, where he lived till somewhere about 1806, when he went to Upper Coos County, N. H., and in 1820 settled in Guildhall, Vt.”
On 23 May 1780 when Jonathan was 24, he first married Elizabeth White, daughter of Josiah White (14 Apr 1703-7 Feb 1761) & Sarah Prime (Feb 1714/5-bef 1750). Born on 10 Jun 1744 in Wenham, MA. Elizabeth died on 20 Oct 1797; she was 53.47
Elizabeth, of Wenham, was of Topsfield when she married. Children of Jonathan and Elizabeth (White) Cummings:

iii. Lydia, b. 1 Dec 1784, d. 17 Jun 1817.47
On 20 Dec 1798 when Jonathan was 43, he second married Lucy Kimball. Born on 31 Jan 1765. Lucy died on 9 Nov 1857; she was 92.
