1936 Death Certificate: Michigan Department of Health, Division of Vital Statistics; Nankin Township, Wayne County. State Office No. 282 8427, Register No. 161. Samuel died at the Eloise Infirmary in Detroit of coronary heart disease on 15 February 1936. He also had had severe problems with his left leg. He was 73 years, nine months and nine days of age at death and was born May 6, 1802 in Ohio. Samuel worked as a laborer and resided at 626 First in Detroit. He had lived in Detroit for eight years, nine months and 17 days. He was married, but no name is given for his wife. His father was John H. Brown, born in Ireland, and his mother was Martha Harding born in the United States. The Infirmary was the informant. Samuel was buried in Delton (it’s not clear if this is the town or the name of the cemetery).
On 8 Jun 1884 when Samuel Lewis was 22, he married Mary Arvilla Stephens, daughter of Amos Robert Stephens (ca 1835-) & Anna Orilla Mattison (ca 1825-), in Lapeer County, Michigan. Born on 24 Nov 1858 in Attica Township, Lapeer County, Michigan. Mary Arvilla died in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan, on 4 Jul 1938; she was 79.
