Henry Wittig, prominent in Michigan harness racing circles for many years, died recently (Apr 1951). Aged 75, he was a resident of Wheeler, Michigan.
Mr. Wittig trained his own horses and raced them himself until last year when he decided to let someone younger take over the many chores of racing them. He took care of five head, three of which he trained. One of them was the good young mare, Leona Pointer, owned by his daughter, Mrs. Vic Snyder.
During his lifetime he had a number of outstanding trotters and pacers. One of the best was Cindy A. Hal. At the time of his death he owned Miss Kitty Direct and Gratiot Girl.
Surviving are his wife and several children.
