Katherine Ann Filibeck, 89, of Minnetonka, Minn., passed away on Saturday, December 25, 2010. She was born on June 26, 1921, in Banat, Mich. to the late Louis and Katherine (Kanton) Walter. Katherine married Albert Filibeck in August of 1941. He preceded her in death in 1974. She then married Harry Drifka in July of 1982. He preceded her in death in 1987. She was a former long time resident of Menominee for the past 20 years and prior to that she lived in Banat, Mich. Katherine was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Menominee, Mich. and St. Anne's Society. She worked at Emerson Electric.
Katherine is survived by four sons: Albert J. (Ardeen) Filibeck of Long Beach, Calif., Charles L. Filibeck of Benton Harbor, Mich., Donald J. (Sharon) Filibeck of Columus, Ohio and Rick A. (John LeBlanc) Filibeck of Maple Grove, Minn.; three grandchildren: Michael, Kathryn and Christopher; one great-grandson, Michael Zachary and one sister, Lenora Meier of Milwaukee, Wis. Along with her parents and her husbands, Katherine was preceded in death by one sister, Marie Schmidt and three brothers: Louis, Joseph and Martin.
Friends may call the Lemieux-Thielen Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 29, 2010, from 4 until 6 p.m. with parish prayers at 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered for Katherine on Thursday, December 30, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Menominee. The Rev. Fr. Michael Cheiner will officiate.
Burial will be in the Stephenson Township Cemetery, in Stephenson, Mich. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to St. Jude Hospice, 7200 Hudson Blvd. Suite #100, Oakdale, MN 55128 in memory of Katherine Filibeck.
